Product Description

FULL HD 3D Blu-ray Disc Playback
True to Cinema Picture Technology
Advanced 2D image technology accumulated over the years at the Panasonic Hollywood Laboratory (PHL) has also been applied to 3D image playback, allowing high-quality images to approach original film quality. Lifelike 3D images with dramatic leaping effects and enhanced depth, luster and texture are beautifully reproduced.

PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus
PHL Reference Chroma Processor Plus is a high quality image-processing technology developed to precisely process each pixel of the Blu-ray Disc video signal in the vertical direction. It reproduces color data with twice the accuracy of conventional systems to keep colors faithful and sharp.

Audio Return Channel (ARC) - Easy to Use
The theater system is compatible with a new feature of ARC (Audio Return Channel). ARC allows receiving audio signals from the TV, on top of the preexisting HDMI function of sending audio/video signals to the TV with just one cable. This new feature will simplify the connection by eliminating an audio cable connection between TV audio output and main unit's audio input.
* ARC compatible TV is required

5Great system with many features
By gap_man
I've had my eye on this package for the last month. I waited for holiday deals to kick in and purchased this for great price on Amazon. But that really isn't the point of my review.A few things I like about this product:1- it talks to my TV! This was totally unexpected as I went to watch my first movie and everything kicked in on its own. TV changed inputs, surround sound kicked in and the TV volume went to mute. I can't tell you how many times I've had to get off the couch to lower the volume by hand with my old system. Awesome feature!2- Blu-ray player. This is my first Blu-ray experience and I am not disappointed. I love the beautiful images and all of the extra on-screen, in-movie features available.3- Great Sound. I was amazed at how small of the speakers were but how much of punch they made collectively as a unit. The sub-woofer is so small it fits in my bookshelf-out of the way, but still packs a resounding boom that can be felt throughout the whole house.4-Plays FM radio. Not a fancy feature, but a nice one none-the-less.

4HD DVD / Blue Ray / Internet video / Radio Stereo Reciever
By Alemore
I originally bought an HDDVD system with rear wireless speakers from Sam's club. That unit did not have good sound so I returned it.I researched various brands within the $250 dollar price range and settled on the Panasonic due to price and feature set.DVD / Blue Ray video:Excellent! I've used a couple different Blue Ray units and honestly have not noticed any better quality in the video compared to HD DVD. The quality is comparable. The same with this unit. I don't see that as a flaw with the unit but just a general observation between the two formats.Quality of the video is excellent and I have not had any read errors whatsover. You have the option to hear sound from either the Panasonic speakers, your tv, or both.Internet video:I tried watching high definition video from Netflix but the unit has a hard time streaming information from the internet fast enough to keep up. The movies pause constantly trying to catch up and eventually downgrades to lower resolution video; which, is less resolution than standard tv.I also tried Amazon and although the unit does better than with Netflix, it still can't keep up downloading information fast enough to show High Definition video. In contrast, my Nintendo Wii is slightly better with Netflix than this unit (I don't have amazon on the Wii). By the way, the Wii does not output high definition video but still manages to display the downloaded video better than the Panasonic. My Sony PS3 does excellent with Netflix and displays high definition video. I include these two other methods as examples to show that there is a difference between internet units and low quality is not only due to the internet connection speed. This device also includes the ability to watch YouTube videos and so far has done an excellent job downloading and displaying those. This is a nice feature and searching videos is easy.Picasa pictures from the internet also display nicely, you can turn your tv into a picture frame! Quality is excellent!Overall, having internet capability is nice but Panasonic needs to improve the streaming capabilities of the device. In my opinion, the unit lacks internal memory to temporarily cache video to provide a good viewing experience.Radio:Works fine. I have the unit set up in the lower unit of my home which is about five feet below ground level and the radio still manages to tune stations. I do have to fiddle with the antenna wire for some stations but no different than any other radio I've used downstairs.Ipod dock:Could be better. The dock is concealed on top of the box. It's easy to select and use the ipod on the tv display menu. However, the menu lacks the intuitive menus and functionality as the iPod so using this feature feels restricting.Remote Control:Needs work. The control feels the same when held from either end. I've caught myself pressing buttons with nothing happening only to discover that I had the infrared transmitter facing towards me instead of at the Panasonic unit. The buttons are crammed and without a light source, it is very difficult to use the remote in the dark.Sound quality:Very good! Despite the small size of the speakers and subwoofer, the sound quality from this unit is impressive. This unit would benefit from being louder though since the highest volume setting is not loud enough for my liking.Summary:I bought this from Amazon for less than what I paid for the Samsung unit at Sam's Club. This unit has more features and the sound quality is much better. For the $235 price that I paid, I am happy and consider this to be a good value. I can live with most of the minor inconveniences but highly encourage Panasonic to improve the internet video experience.Considering the above, I would recommend this unit.

4Good, but warning on the firmware update
By Adam Scott
Ok I'm changing the review to be fair. I accepted the firmware update and it stayed at Open WA for a long time. I unplugged the machine for a day, plugged it back in and it was still stuck at Open WA. Then I did some more support checking and found I should just keep waiting. I left it on and after looking at it 30 minutes later it had turned itself off. Then upon turning back on it was working. Need to put this warning on the firmware update page.Viera link has a lag time between turning on the player and the Panasonic TV. How long, uh, 20 seconds or more. But it does work.So I'm keeping at 4 stars. The firmware update looked like it bricked the thing, but it just took a long time. (I don't want to bash Java, but I think it uses some kind of Java layer).
