4Terrific sound but...
By MC
These headphones sound very good (compared to Grado sr60, AKG k26p, Senheiser pxc-300 - all of which I own).Bass - The bass is very tight and not overpowering but can certainly be heard. These headphones sound so good primarily due to the tight bass - definitely better than those headphones mentioned above.Treble - crisp and clear - no shrill sound on high notes from what I have heard so far.Midrange - voice and midrange notes are natural sounding and the overall sound of the bass, treble and mids is well balanced. When I listen to these headphones, I realize that I am listening to a much wider spectrum of sound than with my other headphones.Soundstage - open sounding for a closed headphone - not nearly as open sounding as the Grado SR60s but, more open sounding than any other closed headphone that I have heardComfort - these are very heavy headphones to wear and travel with and get very warm and sweaty very quickly. In very little time, your ears will get so warm and sweaty and you will need to take them off to allow your skin to breathe. I am guessing that the pads are made of pleather rather than leather. The earpads do not fit entirely on the ear and not entirely off the ear (take a look at the shape of the pads) which means that there are pressure points on the ear which become uncomfortable in just a few minutes. These earphones are approx. twice the weight of the Bose (I could be mistaken but, I think that they are more than twice the weight). You will feel the weight of these on the top of your head within a very short time. The excellent build quality will explain the weight but they are really heavy to wear and to travel with.Size - These headphones are very big and chunky - about the same size as the largest Beats headphones and are too big to travel with. The case is also very large to accommodate the headphones so they take a considerable amount of space in a backpack, briefcase or bag. The case is about the diameter of a small dinner plate and is about 1.75 inches thick.Noise cancelling - The noise cancelling is okay but not nearly as good as either the Bose qc15s or Sennheiser pxc-300's. I would give the noise cancelling a 6 out of 10 with Bose qc15s being a 10. I am not sure who these are ideal for - too warm, heavy, bulky and noise cancelling just okay for travel, too warm and nc not needed for most people at home and for the price, there are lots of great sounding headphones that cost less without nc that could be for home use. I refused to buy Bose as they don't sound that great once you compare them to good sounding headphones and they are extremely cheaply made so I purchased these (for the record, I own Bose products including 201's and Acoustimas 10 speakers). I wish Polk would improve the earpads and (sell as replacements). These headphones take two AAA batteries and must be turned on to hear the music (which adds to the weight). It almost seems as though Polk designed these with an internal amp to produce good sound rather than effectively cancel noise.Build - very durable headphones. There is no comparison between the build quality and fit and finish of these headphones and others including the Bose qc15s. Just check out how Bose cut and glue the cloth inside their headphones and the cheap plastic that they use. These are made extremely well and will likely take a pounding - they are made with stainless steel, carbon fibre (just for show) and plastic which even feel much better than others. These look high tech and classy at the same time. When you look at these and pick them up, you know that the people at Polk were concerned about the fit and finish of these headphones when designing them. These headphones even come with very good ribbon wire of different lengths which do not tangle very easily and they come with other accessories including an airline adaptor.SummarySound: 9/10Comfort: 4/10Size and weight: 4/10 (not ideal for travel)Noise Cancelling: 6/10Build Quality: 9/10It's too bad that these headphones are so big and heavy and the earpads are so uncomfortable as these are very, very good sounding headphones that are also very durable and impressive to look at.

5Pretty good, best part is real high end audiophile sound, for that a bargain!
By C. A. Bayko
I was criticized recently for having an average of mostly positive reviews; well I just entered a 2 star on another product. I take reviews seriously, and do hours of research, and use every product I review. Unfortunately the bad, or the few I return, often do not get reviewed. I won't repeat most of what you will find on the Polk; but will cut to the chase!I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HOW THESE HEADPHONES SOUND! Polk has done a superb job, these are above fray! Sound quality at audiophile level! Equal nearly to my home set at almost 4 times the price, absolutely no exaggeration. I demo'd these at the Atlanta airport, amongst the AKG, the Beats, the Bose, (which I used to own...and had a brief foray with the Parrot zik, Klipsch, and these beat them all in sound...clean, balanced, lows, mids, highs, no detectable distortion; don't want to take them off. These are sweet! Decent, base, some pulsing, good sound stage, for closed phones. As far as NC, there are a few professional reviews, one that says, they don't have any NC, that is an exaggeration. If the Bose isolate around 88% of ambient noise, these do about 65%; most average about 55% for Noise cancelers. Remember some closed phone, with no active cancellation, actually isolate better than any electronic NCs. But then the Electric NCs, have additional features, including push to talk! So + and minus, IEMs isolate the best but not everyone, wants things in their ears all the time. One really important observation. Recently these got a so so rating on their NC ability. Well if you read the discussion about these Polk, they talk about their dynamic tuning, and their ability to enable you to hear voices when you need to, but at the same time, push the background noise out; also to not negate the mids and highs you desire for great sound. All this comes at a trade off. Do you want perfect NCing and sacrifice sound quality, or really high end SQ, and sacrifice some NCing ability. These are the latter. In the world of overcrowded NC phones, the sound quality on these is likely unequaled. They are BIG, fit well, could be warm, but overall, fit well, superbly built, audiophile quality, tiny tiny, NC hiss, but quickly unnoticeable when listening to music; and aim to cancel out the most disturbing noise, but deliver great sound, across all genres! These are a keeper!Tomorrow morning the plane test, I will update if anything changes, but I am glad about Polk!PS 4 stars becasue no one has it perfect yet!Update: 8/10/2012 5PM EST...on a plane from Des Moines to Atlanta, and then to TriCities...Active cancellation was about 65% I will go with my original estimate. I got home, and listened in my home and heard no hiss?...with NC phones I have experienced things like this in various environments depending upon sounds feedback or other wireless activity, or constant sounds in the area. Bottom line they sound quiet no hiss, and the sound is awesome. It really is so sweet, great bass, but not a bass head, these are really sweet sounding; so I had to revise my rating to 5, does not mean they are perfect, but for my purposes, top of the heap!

5Great headphones. Period.
By M. Hayes
I had been looking at the Bose Noice cancellation headphones. Then I happened to be going through BWI Airport in Baltimore, where Polk has a stand. I went immediately with the Polks and immediately on to an airplane. The noise cancellation was absolute, and I heard nothing but the music despite having a seat right by the wing. With other nc headphones, you get ready to accept they may not be great headphones. You'll give up greatness for quietness. These are great, period. Beautiful bass, vocals, and highs. If I was considering buyer's remorse, it was just too hard because I was listening to the smooth sounds of Sade, the harmonies of Crosby, Stills and Nash, and the soaring vocals by the Mormon Tabernacle choir. Amazing.

Home Theaters With Wireless Speakers

Wireless speakers are not the pinnacle of technology were not as long, but they are still relatively new. The good news, however, is that the cost of good quality wireless speakers down to an affordable level for most people. However, follow the incessant March of the technology and it is almost impossible to be at the forefront of more than six months before something new comes out.

So, I became conscious decision not to be on the forefront of technology, more. Two months later is good enough for me these days. It can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars to make the decision. I'm sure you already know how such things as computers, especially laptops and declining plasma television screens in recent years.

So now is the moment in time to get into wireless speakers. They are a good idea in any case, as you can move the speakers around without extensions necessary, but they are especially useful in home theater because people will not trip over the son in the dark.

Wireless speakers are coming down in price, because there are more manufacturers making them, which is usually the reason why this happens. The latest most manufacturers in the Far East, not new, but the quality is just as good. They are slightly more expensive.

Wireless speakers are one of the first Note that you should consider if your system is a few years. The speakers allow even more modern freedom to move around your speakers to get the best sound from your home theater set up.

One tip if you want to try to save a little on your purchase online buy wireless speakers. However, do not rush into it. The first go around shopping centers and find out what speakers you want wireless systems. Take note of the three brands or models. Then, go online and check the prices for the models.

You should note the model, prices and online Shop URL where you saw online. Then back to the store where you saw the models and ask them if they are willing to match or better the price. They are ready for a better price, very good. You win because there is a problem, you can return to the local level. If they are not, you must weigh the value of buying local for you.

You can easily find a home theater system to buy high quality wireless speakers from your high grades in this way. You should really go towards the wireless speakers and if you do not believe me, just walk around the mall on a Saturday afternoon, you will be sure that soon.

5Sony DAVFX10 Home theatre ---- very impressive
By Mr. X
I recently purchased the sony davfx10 and i am very impressed with the sound quality. i had a less expensive model froma different company before and it does not compare to the clarity of the sony. the design is also very slick with a very stylish reciever that. speakers mount very easily to the wall... just put a screw in the wall and the speaker simply hangs on it. setup was done in 15 min . i recommend turning up the rear speakers in the setup menu a couple decibles because it really enhances the surround sound alot. I would reccomend this to anyone looking for a great system, with clear sound and multiple audio inputs to connect xbox, cable, etc and listen to them in surround sound.

5ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW!!!!!
By C. Parker
I purchased this system after a couple of weeks of researching Home Theater Systems. I decided on the Sony because it had the inputs that I needed at an affordable price. Plus Sony has always treated me good with other products.I had no problem hooking up the system and I was blown away by the sound! I put in the War of the Worlds DVD and it shook my living room. I don't even know how high the volume can go because level 25 is very loud. Someone said in their review that the sound was bad, but I don't see how that is unless they hooked it up wrong. It has an optical audio input and a digital coaxial input. I used the optical for my Xbox and Halo2 sounds great. Now I have finally completed my home theater experience because I already had the 51" HD TV!! I am one happy customer.

5High quality sound for the money
By A. Washington
I bought my 1st home theatre system back in 1996. I paid more then than I did for this system now. The funny thing is that this system would have cost me over a thousand dollars back then. Mind you this is without the 5 disc DVD/CD changer. They only had CD players back then. Anyway, the system came with very clear instructions on the set up & install. There is no need in purchasing speaker wire which is normally necessary when buying a home theatre system. What is even better is the fact that the speaker wires are color & polarity coded to avoid running the speaker wire to the wrong speaker or to the wrong input on the receiver. They are even cut to length based on if the speakers or surround rear or front speakers. The sound is very clear & the powered subwoofer will make your walls shake. I was surprised at the amount of sound output for the low price I paid for the system. There is even a Sony technical support line phone number that will help you troubleshoot problems if you run into any in the installation. The only negative thing that I see with the system is the fact that there are only two additional Video input jacks on the receiver. This is a problem for me because I could not integrate my VCR with the Tivo satellite receiver & Playstation 2 that I have connected to the receiver.

5wow, simply amazing
By Diknak
This is my third Android tablet. My first was a very low budget tablet, the Archos 7 Home Tablet, the second was the Archos 70 Internet Tablet. I was looking for a tablet with more features, most importantly a rear camera and a GPS, but I didn't want to spend $600.When I rate anything, I rate it based on what is being promised vs what has been delivered. So although I may mention cons in this review, it still scores a perfect rating because those cons are disclosed up front and I wasn't hit with any curve balls.cons:-No kick stand. I loved this about my first two tablets and I missed it on day 2 with this tablet.-Short battery life. I am used to a 7 hour battery life and this tablet cuts 2 hours off of that.-New OS version brings some apps not being ready. Not the device's fault, but it is still a bummer to see a Force Close.pros:-Honeycomb. My other two tablets were 1.5 and 2.2, so this is an amazing experience in comparison-Price. This is an AMAZING deal considering it is competitively priced but has so many features that you would expect from a premium tablet-GPS, gyrosensor, light sensor, rear camera, front camera, 1ghz dual core processor, 1 gb ram-WiFi is super powerful in comparison to my other tablets.-Very fast and responsiveScreen:I wish the light sensor would kick it to full brightness more often, but I just turned the auto off and keep it at 50% brightness. The screen doesn't have the best viewing angles, but that is typical with the screen type. However, the display is super sharp and looks great!WiFi:When sitting at my desk, I was at maybe 5% reception for WiFi on my old tablet and I often dropped the connection depending on where it was sitting on my desk. With this tablet, I am about 50% reception and I haven't dropped yet. This WiFi is MUCH better than what I have seen before in other tablets.Battery:This tablet isn't for everyone because of the battery life. On travel days, it is really going to get to me. I plan on buying a battery charger to juice it up on heavy usage days, but I don't think I will hit empty that often.Overall, if you want a 7" Android tablet that gives a great experience, this is for you. I can't stress how happy I am with my purchase and I think I will be sticking with this tablet for a while.Edit (5/24/2012):It's been a while since this review and there have been a lot of changes since then. Earlier this month, ICS Android 4.0 was released to the device. The system does appear to be snappier after the update, but there has not been an impact to battery life. Unlike when HC was a new OS, I have not had a single app that doesn't run correctly on ICS, so the transition was a lot smoother.

3Fabulous device, amazing video, battery :( - traded in
By Adriano's Mom
I'm very happy with this purchase. My advice is to read all the reviews, because they are very informative and may point out something that for you is a deal breaker or shows it's a must have. For me, it's the latter. I teach dance and am a musician, and I actually first looked at this product to replace a lost ipod nano (!). Compared to the ipod, this is an entirely different creature; it's obviously more like an ipad. However, one of the best things, compared to the "i" products, is that the memory is upgradeable. Another bonus: the price point is a heck of a lot lower, but this is a quality device. If you're familiar with Android (I have an HTC Droid Incredible), it's great to have the real Android market open to you (and not some pared down version - beware of imitation "Android" devices!), even though I've found a few apps that have issues (not everybody plays nicely with Honeycomb). The video quality is great, although you'll quickly learn to lock the screen so the image doesn't keep shifting from portrait to landscape if you tilt the unit slightly. The speaker quality is fine for average use. After three weeks, I'm still fighting with the keyboard more than I'd like; it's very sensitive and easy to hit carriage return without meaning to.I have to admit, the battery life is disappointing, especially when my ipad user friends brag about their toys, but there are many things you can do to improve it:+ set screen brightness and timeout to lower than defaults+ I've found that having open mail accounts takes a lot of energy. I set them up, but when I turned off the sync, my battery life improved tons. I can reactivate the sync to use them, but I get mail on my phone and computer. Do I really need it on the tablet too?+ I do use a task killer, and I set it on SAFE (as opposed to aggressive) and to kill apps automatically every half hour. Lots of apps (weather, news feeds, facebook, even clocks) check in with the web regularly. As far as I can tell, the big cons are the battery issues. Let's face it, 4-5 hours is short. I get more use, because of a light usage pattern, but it can go down pretty rapidly as I do use it. The guy on a total rant in his review regarding the charger unit does have a point - in this day and age of "folding" plugs, and charger cords doubling as USB connectors, this is not a power supply you can throw easily in a bag. It's a bummer. And it's an even bigger bummer you can't currently {ar ar ar} get a car charger. [BEWARE of USB car chargers advertised on Amazon as working for this unit; you cannot charge via USB, A100s only power up via the proprietary Acer plug. I asked at Radio Shack, it's an Acer thing...] So, it's not too much fun to have to travel with your charger. Quite a few reviewers mention the screen as a problem. While it does have some angle-related limitations, it's easy to optimize the angle - and I'm using it in class, hand-held, in varied lighting conditions. Finally, the Poetic case Poetic(TM) Slimbook Leather Case for Acer Iconia Tab A100 7-Inch Android Tablet Wi-Fi (Black) is a useful and economic accessory I highly recommend. My husband bought an 8GB on a Black Friday special and is mostly happy with his purchase, except for battery life. He paid $199.UPDATE: July 2012I traded in this device. I could not get around the horrible battery life. For all the cool things it does, no battery life - and such a horrible, bulky charger (and no car option) - I just realized I wasn't really using the unit. I've ordered a Google Nexus 7: lower price point, updated Android, and a battery that performs a whole lot better.

5Does all things that my laptop does.... Great tablet!
By M. Lee
I have 2 tablet PC, IBM X60Tablet and Fujitsu p1610. One is 13 inch so it's not really UMPC. Fujitsu is 9 inch, but since it's convertible (has the keyboard with monitor turning), it's thick and bulky. Also battery last only for 2 hrs on Fujitsu. I wanted a thinner smaller device that I can carry to local coffee shop and browse internet.Acer Iconia A100 is perfect because not only it'll be easier to carry around, but has full HDMI output so that I can use it on my bigscreen TV as a media player. Here is what I think about the tablet after 2 days of use.Likes -1.Portable size yet big enough screen for movie viewing2.FAST!!!! CPU and wifi.3.Great OS - I can even print to my Epson all in one printer!!!4.Dual camera with one 5 MG pixel5.Familiar Google web browser that allow you to download pictures6.Tons of free apps.7.No problem with music and HD movie - no need to convert files so far. I played all movie files on my hard drives. No more iTune, which means I can access this device and load music/movie from any computer. yeh!! Basically use it as external memory card.8.HDMI output to TV9.Very responsive touch10.Built in GPS - Once set destination when I have access to WIFI, off line GPS has no problem pointing direction while I'm driving. New Google map will let you download 10 mile radius of area onto cache map. I was able to use it off line for about 25 miles once I setup the route on WIFI.11.Great as an eBook reader12.There is a free app which let you use this tablet as a remote keyboard and mouse for my desktop or media pc. Great for controlling my media PC. Since it's wifi I can control my desktop even outside of my house. Only problem is that I cannot see the big screen tv (media pc)...13. Use it as a note taker for my meeting - no more lost note pad14. Market place released the updated Kindle app. Works great!15. Can be setup as a media server. I can stream media(movie, mp3, etc.,) to my PC wirelessly while my kid is playing Angrybird without any studder. pretty cool...16. I downloaded one of the GPS program that one of the user recommended for free from Android market - Awesome. better than my TxxTxx.Wish list- (not the bad list for I have not found anything bad yet).1.gets bit warm when I'm holding-it could be heat from my hand.2.Better battery life. It last about 5 hrs, but with all the option like GPS, Bluetooth, and CPU power, Apple iPad would have last similar 5hrs, so not so surprising.3.Home button is kinda sensitive and sometimes it gets triggered while using the tablet4.Video recording is not great under low light.5.USB Host - I don't think I cannot connect USB card reader to read my Compact Flash cards6.On screen keyboard is bit smaller than iPad's when in portrait mode... But iPad is 10 inch.. so not really tablet's fault.7. Would not play Netflix. I can access up to the screen where I can select the movie, but would not play. I think there only a few device that play Netflix, so hopefully Netflix will release new version of the app. The twick with one of the file you found on internet does not work for me...We have Apple iPad which belongs to my wife and the kids, and I don't get to play with it hardly....: It has amazing screen, but it's 10 inch and way too big for me to carry around anyway, and NO GPS and NO Flash.Overall I'm very pleased with the purchase and have been carrying with me pretty much anywhere I go - it actually fits in my short's and dress pants pocket... but probably not my jean pocket...

4Great sound from this
By Sealbee
I bought this because my flat screen TV's sound is kinda weird. I have a/c in the windows so the fan is loud. The TV sound goes up, but at a certain point it does not increase very much. So I got the sound bar hoping it would do better. It does.It has a great sound coming from it, you can tell it's louder than the TV and blends in with the TV so it's almost invisible. (Black on black)I wanted a wireless sub woofer, but the ones I looked at cost more than I was willing to spend, not sure if they would do what I wanted. Most of them had their own remotes also. I like that this one is controlled by my TV remote. My only complaint is when I mute the TV, depending on how long it's muted, the sound bar goes off also and can take up to 15 seconds (it seems) to come back on. During that time I can barely hear the TV and might miss something. But overall I'm very happy with the purchase.

3Nice slimline form, some problems
By Nick
After searching around for the best deal on a soundbar with subwoofer this one fit the bill, sounds good and adjusting with the tv's volume is a nice feature, though is is important to note if your tv does not have a variable audio out (meaning when you plug in aux speakers, the tv volume changes that volume, most are constant meaning these speakers will NOT work)PROS:-slimline design-auto on/off-sounds goodCONS:-unit gives a constant hissing sound, even with no audio source playing. Thought it was defective but after receiving my replacement it makes the same sound, annoying but if the volume is up enough you dont hear it-auto on/off isnt sensitive enough to stay on at low volumes, when i turn my tv down to night time listening levels, the unit turns off unless i turn it up, which is kind of annoyingOverall, for a bedroom unit or something along those lines I would recommend this unit, but for so much for the main living room.

1Watch out for this dud!
By Robin
Sound is decent and setup is ultra easy, but there are two main drawbacks. First, the unit has no power on button so when you turn your television on you wait quite sometime before the audio comes on. Second, if the audio of the program your watching goes quiet, the unit will turn off quickly and then come on again when the sound comes back (but only after waiting 20 seconds). I actually called sharp about this issue and spoke with a woman named Marissa who was no help at all (even after she placed me on hold 3 times). Bottom line, I went out and purchased an LG soundbar with wireless subwoofer and a power button on the unit to control when it is on or off.

3Rating will depend on your expectations.
By VegasDV
I would probably offer a 3.5 rating if available, but settled on 3 since this sound bar is closer to average than very good or excellent. I purchased the Samsung HW-E450C Sound Bar System new from Costco, which is identical to the Samsung HW-E450 with the exception that "C" version includes HDMI and Optical audio cables (one each). My opinion is also based on the fact I have a built-in surround sound system in the main TV room with some quality Polk Audio ceiling speakers and a nice Onkyo receiver. This product was purchased for our loft area, which is the "second room" for watching TV with the family.PROS* Moderately priced* Wireless subwoofer can be set just about anywhere* Preset sound "effects" (may also be considered a CON)* HDMI in/out + Optical audio + USB* Above average sound with select videos and TV shows/movies (see details below)CONS* Not much better than above average TV speakers for standard TV and videos (see details below)* Customized sound settings not available* Adjustments to sound "effects" and subwoofer/bass volumes are subtleI admit that I did not have extremely high expectations in terms of sound from this product based on the relatively low cost (compared to a 5.1 surround sound system and other "high end" sound bars), and listening to demos in the stores. However, I connected this sound bar to our VIZIO XVT473SV HDTV, which only provided average sound like so many flat panel TVs due these days (I assume) mainly due to the fact they can't pack a punch with so little space. This sound bar offers slightly above average sound with standard TV shows, older movies, or any video that is not programmed with higher quality sound. You can try different sound "effects" with labels like "Cinema", "Sports", "News", "Music", etc., but there are only subtle differences between them. Also, there are only subtle differences when adjusting the sub-woofer/bass levels up and down.On the other hand, this sound bar performs above average when viewing videos or TV shows/movies that are programmed with higher quality sound. For example, the sound bar performed much better than the standard TV speakers when playing the Cars 2 movie on our Sony BDP-BX18 Blu-ray (another product I would recommend for those that want a Blu-ray without a ton of features).Although there is not a significant "surround" sound effect (which one should not really expect with a 2.1 system) it does offer some noticeable "depth" in the sound, especially when using the 3D sound effect option. In summary, if you are looking for "huge" sound on most video and/or have high standards for audio, then look at the higher end (i.e. more expensive) models like the Harman Kardon SB16 Soundbar (which provided awesome sound when I tried the demo in the store). Otherwise, if you are looking for something that simply delivers above average sound especially on new Blu-ray movies, this sound bar delivers.

5Great Buy!
By Adam Falcon
Refurbished product works like it should! Brand new performance from a refurbished item is always worth the price difference! I would recommend this product to those wanting full performance without wanting to pay full price!

1Priced the same as new?
By David F. Porter
Anyone else notice that the price for this refurbished soundbar (HW-E450C) is the same as the price for a new item?

5Sony Surround System
By Jerry Payne
Great Sony surround sound system. Worked out perfect for our living room which is a open area so just TV speakers were lacking sound fullness.
