Fantastic sounding amazing iOS controllable AVR

If you are looking for awesome sound that can be remote controlled via your iPhone (iOS iPod, iPad, etc) this is simply the best for the money out there right now! You get it all, 7 HDMI inputs and 2 HDMI ouputs up to 3 Zones (Living Room, Bedroom, Bathroom, etc) ALL controllable by the best receiver iOS app on the market right now... This is a great price for a very high end AVR. Add some good speakers to this system and you really can't go wrong... looking forward to many hours of AV enjoyment all over the house. I upgraded to this receiver from a Sony home theater system that was a couple years old. I loved my Sony system but this one sets a new standard. It was incredibly easy to set up and it sounds amazing even on my old Sony surround sound satellites and two KEF floor standing speakers. The 7.1 surround was very nice while watching Cars 2 and Captain America. Plenty of inputs and outputs will ensure this thing will last for years without having to upgrade. If you are looking at this review then do yourself a favor and buy this receiver, you will not be disappointed.

Think twice before buying Pioneer Elite through amazon.com

We purchased a VSX-53 through Amazon.com back in January 2012. The product worked great for a few months when suddenly the video processors both stopped working. We reviewed the issue with Pioneer support and they indicated we needed to bring the unit to an authorized factory repair shop and gave us the names of shops in our area. The unit was repaired but Pioneer refused to pay for the repair even thought the warranty was still in effect, or so we thought. It turns out when you buy Pioneer through amazon.com and Amazon connects you to a seller, the seller may be not an authorized dealer of Pioneer products. Of course the seller Amazon identified proclaims the unit is new, in a box and "fully warrantied". Not so! The unit isn't fully warrantied. Pioneer won't honor their warranty and the seller offers a 1 year vs. 2 years warranty if you will ship it to them in California (we live in Georgia). We are out of pocket more than $200 for a repair of a brand new unit that has a 2 year factory warranty if you buy it from the right seller. Of course, all the seller advertises is that the unit is "fully warrantied".In our opinion as a buyer, these are deceptive sales practices on the parts of the seller and Amazon. Pioneer only has a few authorized sellers. Amazon doesn't point that out even though they connect you to sellers that advertise they have fully warrantied products. We appealed the matter under Amazon's A-Z Guarantee. The claim, even after appeal, was denied. The logic of the denial was that we purchased a defective unit and we didn't notify the seller or amazon within 60 days of purchase. Unfortunately the issue with the unit surfaced after 60 days. As a buyer you need to be a bit clairvoyant in order to use the A-Z Guarantee Amazon proudly suggests that they protect their customers with when confronted with situations like ours.N.B. The Pioneer warranty was in the box with the unit and there was no mention that we needed to contact the seller if we encountered any problems. Amazon lost our business going forward over this. I suspect that there are many others like us who didn't realize the nature of the transaction they completed through Amazon.com.Bottom line: We are out of pocket close to $800 for a unit that isn't warrantied plus $200 for repairs that should have been covered by the warranty in the box, but were not. We suggest you do your homework before buying any product, not just Pioneer products, from amazon.com.
