Ok Sound - some shortcomings..

The purchase of this item was motivated to improve the sound of the Samsung TV (Model: UN46C6900) with which the soundbar was being paired. The sound is good. I'm not sure of the sound quality emanating from the sub-woofer. There are several things which are disconcerting about this product:1. The settings display is angled on the top of the soundbar but even with this angling the settings are not visible if you are seated.2. There is no informational display of the current soundbar settings on the TV. Therefore, when changing a setting such as volume, you have no idea what the current setting is. And since the display is not visible on the soundbar from a sitting position nor displayed on the screen, it's a matter of guessing what the current setting is, OR, get up everytime you make changes to the different settings!3. The first press of the remote does not display the current setting but rather changes it for settings such as the "sound type". Therefore, you can't review what the current setting may be for a particular option because the first press changes it. Then, if you want the original setting, you have to page through all the other options to get back to where it was.4. There's a dim function for the display activated from the remote. However, turn the soundbar off, and the setting reverts to bright rather than retaining the dimmed selection when the soundbar is turned back on the next time.I gave the rating a three since I believe the above enumerated shortcomings are significant enough considering the cost of the item and that it's a Samsung product being paired to another Samsung product so there should be a better technology connection between the two and better physical design of the soundbar.

Soundbar

I read a lot of other reviews before going with this soundbar. I bought this sound bar to be used with a Samsung UN55c8000 television. The television came with an adapter for the the optical audio input for the sound bar. It was very easy to connect the two devices. The two have worked seamlessly. The soundbar automatically turns on when the TV is turned on. The sound from the bar is much better than the built in speakers on the TV but not as good as dedicated surroud sound. I give it a 4 out of 5.

Big disappointment

I purchased this to augment the sound from a new Samsung 46" HD tv. Installation was a breeze, even for the technochallenged. The unit is very good looking and I was really looking forward to it. I should have read the reviews first. It is, for lack of a better term, useless.My issues are the same that many many others are having. The sound cuts in and out, it changes settings on its own, the remote works when it wants to, it mutes without warning. Remote might work for 1 minute, then stop. Powering on/off sometimes cures the issue, other times it doesn't. Useless. Absolutely would never recommend to anyone.
