3Wishing I went with something else
By Alex K.
Don't get me wrong, this thing is a great unit, but it lacks a couple features I expected.Graphic Equalizer - Want to do something other than bass/treble? No. Not yours.Decode Dolby Digital Plus - Sometimes it works, sometimes it falls back to stereo, sometimes it fails completely and must be rebooted. Its airtunes implementation is pretty bad - it inherits the volume control from iTunes (nowhere is this documented) and ignores the previous amp volume. Until you learn to set the usually ignored in-iTunes volume control, you'll be treated to full-volume, ear-and-speaker-damaging blasts both at start and at random. Its sound is also sharp and crunchy compared to using the Toslink input, potentially due to bit-depth reduction for the iTunes-side volume control. If you counted your input needs using the internal airtunes, add one optical to your needs. (full disclosure: I use lossless compression for my audio - no mp3 here if I can help it, and connect to an airport express via toslink, then to the computer using ethernet; this isn't a delivery or source issue)The auto-setup is definitely inferior to other companies' implementations. Set it up straight, or tune by ear. The auto-setup gives strange and inconsistent distance numbers for speakers (the numbers have little bearing on reality, and change from run to run)The remote, manual, and OSD suggest PS3 control. Not so, but that's hardly a problem.(edited to clarify the DD+ issue)

Works great so far, the HDMI switching is slow but I have a sony TV with the same issue so its a Sony thing.

4A great step above the 333ES I had before
By Cully
The sound fields are awesome. The discretely powered channels give new life to my high end Boston Acoustics speakers. I told my lids that it was like listening to my music as new all over again. Still have a lot to learn about features, but so far it is awesome. Polar express tonight!
