best receiver hands down!

Bought this on superbowl weekend along with a polk speakers (RTI A7, FXIA6, center A6 and sub 125). Breeze to setup and calibrate with the microphone. The receiver is the heart of the home theatre system and I put my money there. Have to say the dialoge and movie action is awesome. Playing music thumps extremely crisp and dynamic. I'm running a 5.1 setup and using the addtional channels to bi-amp my front towers. I also hooked up an apple tv to stream my itunes and run netflix. Would highly recommend Marantz as they are known for their quality.

I got this receiver SR7007 about a month ago. I decided to do my own set up on my own. My advice is to go slow. Manual that comes on the disc as PDF is not the best written and veeeery long. It will take you some reading on your PC and few calls to Marantz to address all the aspects you may have doubts about. Few clarifications for the new users:- This is a 7,2 receiver but has 3 zones and 11 speaker ports, however, you can only use Assigned ports for zone 2. Zone 3 does not have independent speaker ports, only outputs for another amplifier you can place in another room. Speakers are good for the main zone as 5.1 set up and 2 assigned for stereo speakers in zone 2. For a while I had a problem finding Equalizer settings hidden deeply in the menu ( below Odyssey Icons menu ) and only after activating Equalizer for all the channels I got really full, wonderful sound. There is no presets for different sound options ( like Live,Hall, Disco,Jazz you could see in less expensive brands ) so you have to tweak all the settings yourself and that takes some time.To make your Comcast remote control work with Marantz AVR, you have to Set AUX to 30189 ( top AUX then SET see 2 blinks, type 30189 ) after that:1) Press AUX3) Hold SETUP, 2 flashes4) Type 994, 2 flashes4) Tap SETUP5) Enter the 5 digit 000366) Tap AUX see 2 flashesOther codes00167 vol up00199 vol down00068 mute00036 powerNow your Comcast remote will control your Marantz. SR7007 remote is rather confusing, again it takes time to learn all the functions on it, specially programming it to control other devices and 3 zones. I am still discovering new settings and options in SR7007 almost every day. You learn it as you go I guess:-) Sound is excellent and very spacious. I found the Internet Radio full of great quality stations playing excellent music selection 24/7 - highly recommended! All my music MP3 collection went into 16 GB mini USB and SR7007 plays that displaying all the song details.Next week time to figure out the Web browser access/control of SR7007. I will update my review in 2-3 months when I have some more experience with it. So far so good, you won't be disappointed in that Marantz flag ship I am confident.

Worked for 5 minutes

I am replacing this unit with a McIntosh and it seemed like a good alternative. After reading through all instructions and connecting all wiring properly I turned the unit on to complete the audio setup. Before I had a chance to do anything the unit turned off automatically and the standby light started flashing. I called Marantz and was told to disconnect everything and try to turn on. I still had the same problem. They told me that it was an internal short and I needed to mail the item back to supplier and get a refund. For the price, this seems like a quality control issue which Marantz has obviously problems with. I agree with the other 1 star review on here that this company needs to get their quality control improved significantly. Avoid if possible. (Note: this is not an Amazon issue as I am returning product to Amazon and will receive refund.)
