Denon AVR-2312CI Receiver
By Elmer
I have been using this for almost a month now and loving it. I upgraded my 10+ year old Sony surround system that came with mini satellite speakers. I now realize how much better it is with full powered satellite speakers and a large center speaker. You can really fill the entire room up with sound equally from all speakers as long as you keep all your speakers the same size and power rating. I had a hard time hearing the dialog with small center speaker but not with this setup. I picked this over the Pioneer and other lower end Denon models as it came with 3 year warranty, a front access HDMI port and most importantly Airplay. What a kick to play music right off my Iphone or my Ipad. It has a second zone that I will be using for my outdoor speakers near the pool area. I am still using my older Sony KF-50WE610 with HDMI - DVI cable, also using my PS3 to stream movies from Netflix or play Blue-Ray movies. 4 Polk RC85i in-wall speakers and Polk CS20 center speaker, will add a subwoofer to complete my surround system. I am using a Harmony 650 controller w/Logitech PS3 adapter and I must say it makes my wife pilot the enterprise a lot easier! The getting started manual is sufficient to get you going but with so many features built into this receiver you may not get the understanding right away. The OSD/GUI display to the TV from the Denon works similarly to a PS3 system console and that makes it easy to use and setup. Tip...make sure you update the firmware on the receiver, set Standby Network to 'on', update all your Airplay device and you will have no issues with Airplay. I know this unit is nearly $300 more than the Denon AVR-1912CI but the extra power and added features makes it a great receiver.

Wireless Integration: AVR-2312CI
By graman
If you want wireless play integration from multiple devices, this is the receiver. The player itself took a while to setup out of the box - it is comprehensive but not complicated. I have not yet used the "setup microphone" for the recommended speaker setup. However, it is already great sounding when compared to my Onkyo HT-R540. With a receiver like this, I decided to install the speakers inside the wall in specific locations and then do the recommended setup. The response from the Denon receiver was slow; however, its now resolved with the firmware update.1. I-Phone Integration: Seamless wireless playback using the "Denon Airplay" app. Again, this feature seems to work better after firmware update. The airplay experiences intermittent pauses if battery is low on the iphone.2. Windows Phone Integration: Seamless playback using "Connected Media" HTC app. App update (released 03/14/2012) required for wireless playback. No specific Denon App is necessary.3. Windows Media Player 12 Integration: Seamless wireless playback from laptop/desktop. Network sharing for media files is required. When activated, you can right click on the song/album/playlist and select "Play to Denon:[AVR-2312CI]" and it will immediately play to the receiver and display the album art on the TV screen.4. Android Integration: Seamless playback using the "AVR-Remote" app.5. PC Game integration: Connected my Gateway FX laptop with HDMI and played Half-life; the computer hangs after approx. 10mins. Not sure which device is problematic; updates soon after figuring out! :)-6. Video Wireless streaming: Not availableI am using this receiver with Onkyo Speakers for HT-R540. Fabulous sound output. If you are looking for high quality sound, this is it.More updates after installing speakers.

Great sound, not great documentation
By Evan B. Bruno
I upgraded my small home theater with this from a Yamaha rx-2700. The sound is a huge upgrade. You'll hear things you never knew were there. There are more than enough hdmi ports, and the form factor is beautiful. The Audessey speaker calibration feature and included mic are absolutely crucial and add a level of satisfaction with the unit that will blow your mind. Just one thing should you choose to order. Save yourself some time by checking your packaging closely for the Audessey calibration mic. I couldn't find it in the packaging and thought they'd left it out. I called Denon support and was told quickly to check the side of one of the big foam packaging pieces, and there it was, just as the support member indicated. It's kind of hidden in a little cutout on the side, so don't panic as I did.The sound modes are plentiful and even the virtual surround modes for stereo content outshine my dts decoding on the old Yamaha unit. I use this mostly for movie content, so I can't speak much to the ipod networking or the other music features. Either way, this unit is going to leave most well-pleased.My biggest gripe with the 2312 is that there wasn't a full printed manual included, just a quick setup manual. The full manual is on an included dvd in pdf form, so you have to go to a computer in order to read it which is more of a pain than you would think.Even with that, I'm very happy with my purchase. You add an Oppo bdp-93 to this and you'll never want to go to the movie theater again, much less leave your house.
