read description carefully

This review is not really to put down the product persay but to make sure you know what you are getting. I bought this as part of a bundle which included the LG 47inch 8600 and 6 additional glasses. I read that it had wireless rear speakers. 1st this is not entirely true. The rear speakers still have to be connected to a rear receiver box which is then wirelessly connected to the main unit. I thought I might use this feature later but not in my living room which is alreay prewired for speakers. Unfortunately the main unit only has speaker outs for the front, center and sub. BTW the sub is a passive sub and not powered at all which I am not fond of. My rear speaker plug ins are on opposite sides of the room with an entryway in between. There is no real way for me to utilize the "wireless" feature. I plan to retrun the set and have decided to by a "real" system instead. ie a true reciever and speakers with a powered sub and a stand alone 3d blu-ray. I may even hold off on the 3d blu-ray player since my PS3 will play 3d movies. Unless you are sure you can use the "wireless" rear setup I would look at a different system. If you want to stay with LG then the model below is nearly $100 cheaper and is the same system but uses wired speakers.

Nice for the price

Great surround sound system. I was surprised about how well the wireless back speakers worked. My experience with past systems always had a delay on the wireless back speakers, but I do not notice any delay or degredation of sound quality for being wireless. The system definitely has a faster load time than my previous Blu-Ray players. I did have a hitch starting Game of Thrones on this player. It would not actually play the disc until I changed the settings on the Blu-Ray player to allow full access. There are a lot of things to do on their online premium Smart TV app. My only gripe so far is that Amazon Instant Video is missing from the lineup for some reason. LG advertises and Amazon is available, but evidently it is only on select systems. I would have thought this unit would have had it since it is a 2012 model.

Wireless Speaker Problems, Arduous Warranty Process

Great features and a fair price. But it worked for less than two weeks before the receiver for the wireless rear speakers turned off and wouldn't turn back on, as other reviewers have experienced. LG's warranty process of shipping in the system (all or in part, I received differing instructions), waiting for repair (not replacement), and having it shipped back took more than two weeks. The result? It still stops working periodically. LG's recommendation? "You'll have to ship it back for repair." "And you'll be returning me the same unit?" "Yes." No thanks, guys. Next time it stops working, I'll be moving to a different brand.Note that there's only one HDMI port and it's for sound/video out, so I'm using an optical audio cable for input from the tv.When it works, it sounds great, the internet features are easy to navigate, and setup is reasonably easy. The upshot: apparently some folks have avoided any issues, but it seems there's a reason for the low price vs. systems with similar features.nb. LG summarily rejected a similar review submitted to their website. One might take their "70% recommendation rate" with a grain of salt.
