Simply AMAZING Value

First off, I would like to say thanks to VMI for providing this free of charge for review.As my title states, it is a very budget minded product.As soon as you remove the speakers from the box, you get a good idea of the value of this speaker set. The subwoofer feels sturdy and the digital, feature packed display were definitely a surprise to me.The remote control was another nice addition as well as the PRO features that allowed the system to be switched from 2.1 to 5.1. That way, if I choose not to run the rear speakers, I can still enjoy the system.As far as the sound, I'll compare it to a Samsung sound bar that I purchased from Walmart ($350).The subwoofer packs WAY more punch than I expected. Is it the cleanest sounding sub? Of course not. Will it knock pictures off of your walls? Probably not. But, can you really complain about a powered 5.1 setup with a subwoofer with a built in EQ and separate speaker level controls that still has the ability to recreate, pretty well, the lower frequencies in your media? My only gripe is that you need a surround processor with pre outs to get the full 5.1 setup; and at which point, when you have something like that, will you really be looking at a $100 surround sound speaker setup?The speakers themselves are, once again, constructed very well and the included RCAs were also a plus in my eyes. The RCAs for the rear speakers were not long enough for my room but my room is sort of large. This would be perfect for smaller listening rooms or you could just extend the RCAs if needed. They provide a good amount of volume, distortion isn't really apparent until you really start pushing them.Overall, I say that you will not beat this setup for the money. Of course, there are some things I could find about the system that I do not like. But, for a 5.1 setup to compare, in sound, to $350 sound bar and sound just as good AND offer the advantages of true surround, it is something of a "diamond in the rough".Highly recommended for the budget minded listener.

Affordable Audio System under $100

The VM EXMS582 is a home audio system that comes with five speakers and a sub woofer. The speakers have long cables that at 10, 15, and 25 feet long so they are easy to place in various places around the room. I like how easy it is to play music using a regular SD card and/or an iPhone/Droid or tablet. Just plug the phone or tablet into the subwoofer and it plays. Same with the SD card. You control the music with the remote control so it is convenient to run from across the room. The speakers and the subwoofer all seem to be made well and the sound quality is great so far. The whole system looks good too.I received this complimentary system for review but all opinions are my own and I was not paid to write the review.

You Get What You Pay For!

Okay, so, there's virtually no reviews of these speakers to be found online, so I went out on a limb buying these, though I own only Sonly products if I can help it because - hey, let's face it: Sony makes great stuff! Some peoplesay Sony is overpriced. I say that's a load of old horsefeathers. Apple is overpriced.Okay, so $550 (how much I paid for the set from Sony Style in Boston, MA) for a 5.1 home theater speaker setup that doesn't include a receiver or bundled blu-ray player like most of the rest of Sony's home theater offerings, is definitely a little pricey, but once I got these babies hooked up to my STR-DN2010, oh man, they were smokin' and tokin'! I got serious goosebumps from the sound. In a word: Amazing.TV? Amazing. DVD? Amazing. Playstation, Xbox, and Wii? Amazing. MP3 player? Amazing. I'm no audiophile but whether it was a consequence of the receiver (of which I've seen receive a few none-too-favorable reviews) or just the speakers themselves, for their form factor (sleek, slim, monolithic, aesthetically exciting) or just the sound itself, these speakers did not fail to disappoint, and I've owned some powerful sound systems in my day so I've got a bar that I've set pretty high to which these speakers were held to.So, yes, there are some things I didn't like, but they're little things and I'm neurotic, but so I'm not accused of being a Sony fanboy, I'll relate them. One, I tipped over a rear speaker and when it fell the plastic scuffed a bit more easily than I would have liked. Not too noticeable, but I know it's there so it irks me. Two, the process to put the wire into the speakers if you want to use the stands (which I did) is bothersome enough for the tabletop speakers, but if you're using high-quality speaker wire - which tends to be thick - pushing that wire through the narrow tube through the floor-stands to reach the speaker was kind of a pain. Nothing too serious though. Three, the subworker has a powersave function that turns the unit off after several seconds with no base signal. When it shuts off it makes an audible loud click. There's a switch on the unit to turn this feature on and off, but if you want it on and your audio source cuts or fades the baseline in and out in a sequence longer than the auto-shutoff timer on the unit, it will click on and off multiple times.Last, I really like these speakers and I'd consider ordering two more to create a full 7.1 setup like my receiver allows but these speakers, unique as they are, are currently only available as part of the set. *sigh*I've only just got the SA-VS310s set up last night and have been listening to them for a few hours now, but so far the pros, by a thousand leagues, outdistamce any cons I've yet encountered. So give these speakers a chance if you're looking for a very good high-end entry level home theater speaker set, you won't regret it!

Great speakers for their size.

These speakers are great. I'm very conscious of sound and like really good 5.1 speakers. It took me a while to decide on these. I liked the look but was worried about the sound quality, being that they were very small speakers. I was able to try them in a local BestBuy, which isn't always the easiest to do, and they sounded good. I bought them from Amazon after many weeks of deliberation. When I got them there was no doubt, they were great. The sound that comes out of these small speakers is pretty impressive. You should always keep in might that these are not large professional speakers. They produce really good sound, but your need a decent receiver. Nothing will ever be as good as large speakers, but these are perfect for those of us that like great sound and love small stylish speaker systems.ProsGreat sound from small speakersVery stylish designConsCan't buy speaker stands for the rear speakers

Sony SA-VS310 Home Theater System

I bought the system directly from the seller (TigerDirect, Inc.), they had the system for $149.99 with a $50 rebate. I couldn't pass on that deal at least based on the fact that these speakers were selling for much more than that outside.The box arrived promptly as promised (shipped via UPS), ordered on Wednesday evening around 6pm and received by Friday noon. So no complains there. The product was well protected, although I Styrofoam protecting the sub-woofer was broken (the unit looked and functions fine). Thats everything I can talk about the shipping and packaging.The speaker system really compliments my TV and entertainment setup. I have a black LG tv and the speaker system has the same glossy black plastic and makes it go well together. I have the center speaker resting on the TV's base and it looks good. The hook up was easy and was more or less a no brainer. Another thing I liked was that the speaker wires are fed in through the stand and thus hides it inside. They were all very well packaged and covered, so issues there either. The glossy plastic is very shiny, so make sure to wear a gloves to keep the finger prints away during installation (I learned the hard way). I have it hooked up to a Sony STRDH720 7.1 receiver to make use of the in wall rear speakers that I already had. The speakers came with the wires that are pre-cut and trimmed so that its easy to insert into the press pins in the back, but were too thin for my taste. I used 16 gauge speaker wires from Home Depot for my installation. Overall I am happy with the purchase, and it was a good deal at that price.Pros: Nice and loud, Sub-woofer has a really good base (I had to tone it down a little bit after the auto calibration using the dedicated dial on the back)., Beautiful looking speakers that compliments the setup, slim look that gives it a modern design outlook, Cables are hidden away inside the stands making it really convenient.Cons: Only gripe I have is regarding the sub-woofer floor support. The system comes with some tiny pads that you can stick under the woofer and might be enough for carper or wood flooring. I have slate tiles that are very uneven and jagged. The bottom of the sub-woofer is also the same glossy plastic that I am sure will get scratched up if not taken care of. I am comparing this to an Onkyo or Pioneer sub-woofers that come with a feet that raises the unit above the floor. Because of this I have to get some nice silicone padding material and cut it to size and rest the sub-woofer on it to prevent and damages.I will keep this comment updated based on usage and time.

Buggy wireless

I had originally rated this item much higher but after having lived with it a few days the wireless is too buggy. The subwoofer crackles and pops every few seconds due to wireless interference. I've tried all four of the optional channels without luck. It might work under certain limited circumstances but in today's connected homes, I can't imagine many people being successful with getting this product to work without interference and audible feedback from the unit.

Excellent sound!

I'm a budget conscious audiophile and I was a bit hesitant on the whole wireless concept. I was under the impression that I would lose some sound depth...but wow was I ever mistaken. I've owned Polks for years now and have always been impressed by the overall quality of their products. I was also hesitant about the whole "Made in China" side of the equation...but apparently Polk engineers are always on site in China to ensure that all their speakers meet Polk's quality requirements. If any of you are hesitating...don't! This sub does exactly what a sub is supposed to do...in that it properly complements the sound emanating from a good set of main speakers.Basically...very pleased!

FANTASTIC PRODUCT!!!

I was looking for a wireless sub to complement a 32" Sony XBR LCD TV that has 5.1 surround bar and a small built-in subwoofer at the back on the LCD panel. Since this TV is in a bedroom I don't have enough space to add external speakers or any other audio components, which is why I paid a premium to get the built-in 5.1.When I saw this wireless sub at $208 on Amazon, it was worth trying so I ordered it and received it in less than a week. Took me 5 mins to plug in and VOW, what a difference it made! The wireless transmitter has Audio-L & R ports that are connected to the Audio out of my TV. It also has a LFE input to connect directly to the sub woofer output of an amp. I'm blown away by the quality of this product and the ease of use. Now I'm so used to this thing that if I turn it off, the built-in 5.1 TV speakers that used to sound pretty good, feel like tin-can speakers. I am extremely happy with this product (at this price point) and am thinking of adding another one to complement two 8" ceiling speakers in my family room. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to add that extra touch of bass to an existing TV or iPod dock or any speakers that lack the bass. I hope the $208 price stays the same for a while or even drops further.

The SoundWare XS 5.1 Loudspeaker System is an ultra-compact 5.1 speaker system that brings a new level of style and substance to the fast-growing surround sound home entertainment category. It allows users to enjoy rich, room-filling surround sound with their home entertainment systems, while complementing virtually any décor in a stylish yet subtle (even virtually unnoticeable, if desired) manner. The system's five ultra-compact and stylish SoundWare XS satellites are real two-way speakers (unlike many competitors). Each features a high-performance 2½-inch (64mm) woofer and a ½-inch (13mm) tweeter. The contoured-rectangle subwoofer, colored to match the satellites in either black or white, features a 100-watt (250 watts peak) amplifier and 8-inch (203mm) driver. Wall brackets are included for easy installation of all five satellite speakers.

(Relatively) Big sound from small speakers!

I bought these about two months ago & for the size, they make a big sound! Now, let's be real here. They don't sound as detailed or loud as floor standing speakers, or larger bookshelf speakers. Whithout the sub, they sound pretty small. That's because they are. But if you want some great looking & sounding surround sound system in a box, this is a great choice. I have this in a small living room set up. I had my Sony STR-DH710 7.1-channel A/V Receiver with 6 HD Inputs [3D Compatible]calibrate the speakers & viola! Excellent home theater sound. I plugged my iPod into it & listen to a wide variety of music, from MF Doom to Leonard Cohen & points in between. To my ears sound better than Bose (I think they're overrated, anyway).They're small enough to not be an eyesore to most girlfriends/ wives. A BIG plus!

Everything I wanted and more

I purchased this Boston Acoustics 5.1 system to go in my new projector room. I was looking for a smaller speaker package to get the most out of my projection wall without speakers sticking out. The speaker system comes with really nice speaker mounts that were really easy to install and the system doesn't stick out at all in the room but still manages to deliver excellent sound for movies and sporting events. I did purchase another boston center channel speaker to get 6.1 sound out of my system which I would recommend to others wanting the extra back speaker.

Great Value, nice quality

After shopping, and shopping, and shopping for a surround sound speakers in WHITE, (most of them are black) I settled on this Boston Acoustic system. I think the sound quality is quite good and they are sooo much cheaper than the Bose systems. Plus, they come with really nice brackets which give you several mounting options. Most speaker systems don't come with brackets and you'll end up spending another $50-$100 for them, and they're not even all that good. These brackets include a "ball and socket" type mount and wall and corner mounting options. Really nice quality and they look great. My only complaint is I wish the subwoofer was smaller. But they're all pretty large these days. For my purposes, which is listening to music and movies, these speakers sound great and are barely noticed in a room. They are very good looking and nicely built.

Works Great

The five stars was for video appearance. Also HDMI was a must along with the 100MM mounting screws. Audio gets one star, all you can say is it has speakers. Owners manual one star, a waste of paper. You just need to get into Menu and poke around till you figure it out. Led runs very cool. Rebate procedure is a pain. Hardly worth the $10. I wouldn't recommend applying for it. I would purchase again.

Can't be beat for the price!

I was hesitant to buy a monitor online with the risk for damage and dead pixels, but I took a chance on this and boy I'm glad I did. Beautiful 1080p picture, LED, no dead pixels, and no ghosting. Connected easily to my laptop with the included VGA cable and my Xbox 360 looks phenomenal over HDMI. Much better viewing angles than my laptop screen and the headphone jack works for both my laptop and 360 without having to change inputs.The menu buttons are a bit clunky, but after the initial setup you won't need to deal with this very much. Overall a great monitor that is a steal for only $150.

Amazing Monitor for the price

I wasn't interested in buying a monitor, until I happened to see this one online by chance and read the reviews for the product in Newegg. I was so fascinated by this monitor that eventually with in a day I bought this one with 1 days shipping. I am very happy to have this monitor. The picture is crystal clear and the contrast ratio is amazing. I have been using this in Standard mode till now and even when I reduced the brightness level to 20%, this monitor looks great. No dead pixels in my monitor and thanks to Asus for that. The best part of this monitor other than the clarity is that, it is priced way below its competitors. I don't have to look for some other monitors, if u are looking for a monitor of 22" and best in the market. I have connected my desktop with HDMI to this monitor and picture quality is damn good. I keep looking at the monitor and appreciate my purchase myself lol...Bottomline: If you are looking for a High Quality Monitor for the lowest price in the 20" category, then this is the right choice for you. Don't even have to think about this twice.Enjoy folks
