Onkyo TX-8050 Network Stereo Receiver (Black)

Product Description

Onkyo's Hi-Fi revolution gathers pace with the TX-8050. This finely sculpted stereo receiver delivers two channels of audio precision to entertainment spaces where you don't need advanced video processing or multichannel audio. Analog A/V inputs on the TX-8050 are augmented by digital optical and coaxial audio inputs, a Universal Port for Onkyo peripherals, and a front-side USB input for direct digital connection of iPod /iPhone . The receiver's network capability, meanwhile, lets you stream internet radio or play audio from a PC or network audio storage device. Behind the smart aluminum façade lies a massive transformer and large capacitors that provide clean amplification power and help push performance well beyond the norm.

5Great Sounding and Functional Receiver
By Dagger
Bought this receiver and matched it up with a pair of Paradigm Atoms w/ Auralex speaker platforms. This was for a bedroom set-up and the unit and speakers sit on a 2x dresser. I was expecting an average sound and got much more.Pros:1. Plays FLAC via a NTFS USB Powered Hard Drive. The hard drive I use is 640 GB. It reads the Hard Drive relatively quickly (15 sec) and scrolls through the folders very quickly.2. Adding the receiver to the network is easy - just enter your WEP - done. You can stream WMP and with the program Jamcast you can stream Spotify, MOG, etc via DLNA. Has Pandora, MyRhapsody and some other programs already installed on the receiver. Entering your username and password for those services using a dial is probably the most painstaking effort for setting it up.3. Most important - it sounds GREAT. I was worried about having a lean sound with Atoms and Onkyo. However, it's actually quite warm. It could be that it's in a carpeted bedroom, but whatever works. The sound optimizer for playing MP3s works well overall in smoothing out the clipping MP3s have especially in those low kb bit rates from Pandora, etc. There's only so much that can be done on low bit rate streaming.Cons:There are several, but minor and wouldn't change my mind from recommending it. None of these issues are related to the sound, but just convenience.1. No subwoofer cut-off capability. I don't feel my set-up needs a subwoofer, but if it's important to you.2. No backlighting on the control.3. Hard Drive doesn't shut off when the receiver is off. You'll have to unplug from USB when you are done.4. The Android App really doesn't do much except change the volume and change the input. It does play songs off the Android, but with all the other options, don't really see a need for it. Would be nice to link Spotify, MOG, etc to the Onkyo via Android App.5. On Pure Audio, would like the display to come back on when changing folders, input, stations, etc. Have to scroll through the sound options (5 total) to get back to pure audio after changing an option.Other than that, to reiterate I was really impressed by the sound, esp ~$600 set-up. I have a dedicated listening room with a Squeezebox, DAC, SACD, room treatments, turntable, etc. Although this Onkyo + Atom combo doesn't beat out the dedicated listening room set-up, for computer audio it comes really close.

5Just what I was looking for!
By D. Matheny
I recently built a workshop in my backyard and wired it up with a network connection and stereo speakers while I was at it. The whole time I just assumed that good networked stereo receivers would be easy to come by for not much money - but it turns out I was wrong. After a fairly extensive search, I finally came across this little bad boy. I've never owned an Onkyo product before, but I do know they have a good reputation - so I went ahead and pulled the trigger.Just so you know, my main usage includes listening to AM & FM as well as networked radio stations and music from my local music collection that's already on my network. After having said all that, here are the things I like about the Onkyo TX-8050:1) The sound is excellent! I have it hooked up to a pair of Polk OWM5 speakers and they sound very good. Just what I was looking for in my workshop.2) The Internet radio options are very good. With the vTuner, I can tune all of the radio stations I typically listen to, and they sound better than the AM or FM broadcasts. It's easy to organize network radio stations into named categories and the station names themselves can also be renamed. Overall, it's extremely easy to keep everything organized and easy to look up.3) Configuring this receiver to play music off my network was simple. It's simply a matter of turning on media sharing on the PC where the music files are loaded and then scrolling down to that PC in the DLNA menu. I am sharing my music from a Windows 7 system. The hard drive and USB options are great - but I prefer using the network so I don't have a bunch of USB dongles hanging off the front of the receiver...4) There are options to tune in just about any Internet music source you can think of, including: SiriusXM Internet Radio, Pandora, Rhapsody, Slacker, Mediafly, Napster, and Last.fm. Those are in addition to the vTuner option I already mentioned that lets you tune in radio stations that are also streaming over the Internet.5) The favorites menu can be configured over the network. If you don't feel like scrolling from character to character, manually renaming everything - just load up the TX-8050 in an Internet browser and you can do all the renaming and configuring from there. This also lets you set URLs for manually streaming radio stations that haven't been added to the vTuner service. The way to do this is to get the IP address from the setup menu (such as 192.168.1.100), and then type it into your web browser like: "http://192.168.1.100".6) Did I mention that the sound is excellent?!Although, for the most part, everything is working great - I do have a few minor complaints:1) The AM/FM reception is mediocre at best. This would be a bigger deal if my stations weren't available for Internet streaming.2) The favorites menu is kind of cool - but the standard organization is so good that it just adds clutter in my case. It would be better if manually entered stations could just be integrated into the vTuner categories instead.3) The network startup time is fairly long. Forget just hitting the switch and getting networked tunes in a few seconds. In my case, it takes close to a minute - and that's over a hard-wired network.4) Setting this up was a piece of cake for me, but I wonder if someone without any networking skills would fair as well. In other words, this probably wouldn't make a great gift for dear old grandma who's just looking to listen to the radio...Overall, this receiver is exactly what I was looking for. I wanted something with better sound than a SqueezeBox; yet with at least the same number of networking options - and the Onkyo TX-8050 pulled that combination off nicely.I would highly recommend this if you're a techie person who wants great sound combined with all the networked music options you could want.

5Excellent Product (but not perfect)
By Zeek the Geek
This review was written after two weeks of ownership, and updated after 7 months.Do I like it? Yes! Would I recommend it to a friend? Yes!PROS:- very good sound quality- solid design and construction, audio section in particular- DLNA and Web enabled, including Apple and Android Apps (!)- USB port for playing from an iPod, HDD, or other MSC player- subwoofer output (see details)- Zone 2 output (pre-amp level only)- firmware updates via USB or internetCONS:- subwoofer output does not mute when using headphones (dumb!)- occasional DLNA lockups and web station dropout.- the front panel button text is hard to read, but still better than most other brands.- runs hot even at idle (no sound).- plays WAV files from my old WD NAS just fine, but can't play the same files from my new myDitto NAS.I needed a modestly priced stereo receiver for my office and found quite a few candidates on the web including models by Sony, Sherwood, and Onkyo. A few intriguing brand X products showed up also, but the user reviews were poor enough to scare me off. Even the Sony and Sherwood models had their hate mail, so I zeroed in on the Onkyo models. Funny that I should buy Onkyo again because I chose an Onkyo model for our 7.1 home theater system a couple of years ago.The Onkyo TX-8050 was twice what I was planning to pay, but the networking caught my eye. With that feature I can listen to internet radio and music from my NAS without turning on my PC. Some reviewers had problems with that feature, but reading between the lines I felt they may not have been very experienced with the technology, so I ordered it from Amazon. The advanced features are pretty significant for a stereo receiver; here is an overview:- Seven web audio services including Pandora, Last, Slacker, and Spotify. You enter your username and password only once into the receiver directly, or via PC browser.- 40 available memories to store favorite web stations, set locally or via PC web browser.- DNLA sees all LAN media servers, in my case a WIN 7 PC, Twonky and NAS media server.- USB port plays any MSC device, including large HHD (one connection on front panel only)- FM presets can be named (but only by extensive remote control gymnastics).Everything works pretty much as promised. The browser setup and Favorites interface is great. It is so much better than character entry from the remote control (slow). The Android app setup for my Asus tablet was easy, and works very well. The GUI looks great on my Android cell phone, but on a 10" tablet it is huge, vertical only, and low resolution. But again, a very intuitive interface, much better than the Android apps for my Roku or WD media players.Other specs of interest: composite video switching (not much use these days), 80W/CH, headphone jack, phono input(!), 2 coaxial and 2 optical digital inputs. I connected my PC's SPDIF output to one of these, and DVD output to another. The D/A section of the receiver is likely to be much better than the built-in sound cards of most PCs.There are various Listening Modes including a Music Optimizer to "enhance the sound quality of compressed music files". Be careful not to leave this on when listening to uncompressed files! Is it perfect? Hardly.- As with every single media player I have ever used, the player firmware is quirky. But at least this one is reliable enough to enjoy regularly.- Menu structure could be improved, and you don't always get what you expected. For example, depending on the internet source, you may have to press Enter two or three times to "dig deeper" into the URL (this is not a delay issue, only related to the particular web site).- The NET and USB menus are as good as can be expected for on 2-line display, but can be time consuming when browsing.- I have yet to make the M3U Playlists on my media server work. The first selection plays correctly, and then seems to wander off course almost randomly.- The subwoofer output is not processed in any way except volume; there is no bass management, EQ, etc. What's even worse is that it stays ON even when headphones are being used, even when neither speaker is selected. This is something they should be able to fix in the next firmware update, if and when it comes (none as of Dec 2012).- If you intend to use the Zone 2 feature, be aware that volume changes can be made on the remote only, not from the front panel volume control. Inconvenient but workable.- There is only one "input" selector to enter the internet mode (NET). Three selectors should have been provided: one for DNLA, one for web services, and a third for Favorites.Onkyo should be credited for introducing a networked media (audio) player in a stereo receiver. It has all the features you'd ever want in a stereo unit, and then some. And thankfully, the design has no major faults that will cause you to hate the product later.

5Great Network-Ready AV Receiver
By Scott R. Sideleau
I've owned this AV receiver for a couple weeks now and am quite happy with its performance. I opted to network it by connecting it via Cat6 cable to an 8-port Gigabit network switch, which is then connected to a universal WiFi adapter that is connected to the 5-GHz band on my dual-band WiFi router. I have been able to stream Pandora, Internet radio (vTuner), and audio/video via AirPlay from my MacBook Pro with iTunes without issue.I can confirm that the user interface experience is a bit dull (e.g. grey, no on-screen keyboard, etc), but it functions well enough, so I can't complain. I have other devices (e.g. Roku 2) with better interfaces that I'll likely continue to do most of my streaming from. The HDMI overlay setup menu is an independent mode, but I'm not sure why others are finding that to be a fault as I would not want a video stream to be playing in the background while I was trying to read the white text of the setup menu and make changes.I was a bit disappointed to learn, after getting the AV receiver networked, that it is unable to update its firmware automatically. Instead, it detects that a new firmware version is available (after checking over the Internet) and then provides you with instructions for downloading the update from a computer and applying it with a USB thumbdrive. As a result, the primary purpose for networking the AV receiver is to enable AirPlay support. The ControlApp works great on my Android smartphone running the "Gingerbread" (v2.3.4) version of the OS. After detecting the AV receiver, it downloads a small update to the app, which permits you to control the volume (using an on-screen dial) and toggle between the input sources. I find that I can use either the included remote control or the Android app interchangeably, without having to toggle anything on the AV receiver itself.I use "Direct" stereo mode with some fantastic Pioneer floor standing loudspeakers with MCACC enabled. The audio output to the speakers has been incredible. I am hearing things in HDTV streams that I've never heard before.I have a Wii connected to the Composite input and can confirm that 1080p up-sampling works without a hitch. Sometimes there is some very subtle flicker along the bottom/top of the image, but it seems to go away after a minute or two. This is an up-sampled image, so its graphical quality is not improved, but simply made compatible with the HDMI output provided to my TV.I also have my non-HDMI Xbox 360 (in HD mode) connected to the Component input and can confirm that 720p/1080i passthrough is supported. Unfortunately, 1080p passthrough is not supported over the Component input (aside: I've verified that my Xbox 360 can support 1080p resolution by connecting it directly to my HDTV). When attempting this feat, sound was successfully played, but no image was displayed on my 1080p HDTV. After my initial disappointment, I have resolved to use my Xbox 360 in 1080i mode.My remaining devices (Cable Box, Roku 2, and PS3) are connected via HDMI and work flawlessly. I have noticed that switching input sources is not instantaneous. The delay (usually less than 5-sec) is compounded by my HDTV going into "Searching for Signal" mode whenever a switch is made. I have an older HDTV from 2007, so newer TVs that "find" signals faster will likely have reduced delays between switched feeds. From everything that I've read, my observed delay is pretty typical of AV receivers switching between concurrently executing audio/video sources and has much to do with the amount of processing enabled. This performance is not a deal breaker for me, as I'm usually using a particularly input source exclusively for some period of time before switching to another. I have no need to rapidly bounce back-and-forth between input sources.I am very pleased with this product and look forward to being able to test its 3D passthrough capability when affordable consumer devices begin to appear on the market in the coming years.

5Excellent Receiver
By P. Bradford
Okay so I received mine and have been using now for about 3 weeks. This unit is fantastic. Every feature it claims to support, it does in fact support. Sound from the unit is more crisp than other receivers I have used in the past (mainly Onkyo). I bundled it with a Polk audio RM510 5.1 speaker system for $450 on Newegg.com (a total steal considering the receiver itself is $400). It shows how to use the Pandora directly in the users manual, no internet searching necessary. I would hardly consider this an "incomplete product" because it has more features than I even bargained for, like midnight mode. Midnight mode is great if you live in a dorm/apartment and want all the dialogue loud in the movie but don't want the action scenes waking up your neighbors. If you are like me I used to watch movies late with the volume remote in my hand and constantly adjusted throughout the entire movie. Bottom line, this S. R. Lingala guy has no idea what he is talking about.

5Very Satisfied Customer
By Geomatt024
I have had my Pioneer VSX-1122-K for about a week now, and I love it. My previous receiver was a Pioneer VSX - 1021-K, and I had allot of HDMI handshaking issue's as well as a few other bugs that were very frustrating. Given all the issues I encountered with my previous receiver, I was hesitant to get another Pioneer. I am happy to say that I have NO issues with the VSX-1122-K at all! The handshaking issues are gone, and I have NOT encountred any bugs. The overall quality of the VSX-1122-K seems to be far superior to that of the previous model year. The Airplay feature is awesome and makes listening to my favorite music easy and convenient. The 2012 Icontrol application for the Ipad is very cool and allows you to turn up the bass or dilague during movies and TV shows without having to change any settings on the actual receiver. This model has a front HDMI port that allows me to hook up my HD video Camera without having to climb behind the TV stand with a flashlight. Pioneer also did away with the cheap looking, finger print collecting, high gloss plastic it has been using for the last few years, and upgraded to a nice black brushed aluminum face plate. I have not tried playing FLAC audio files on it yet, but am looking forward to giving it a try. This receiver is packed with cool features, sounds great, looks great, and you can't beat the price.

5Big, clear sound in sleek slim body... Very Impressed.
By pen 1
I bought this sound bar and subwoofer a couple months ago after watching a very good review from CNET[...], and I must say I am thoroughly pleased with everything this soundbar and sub woofer have to offer. At first when I read some earlier reviews, I was a little scared about the audio decoding issue, but the review on CNET made it sound quite unlikely that it would be an issue: CNET wrote: "One technical note: the Haier Evoke Slim doesn't decode Dolby or DTS, so make sure your TV and other sources can send PCM signals (rather than bit stream) to the sound bar. If you don't know what any of that jargon means, don't worry, it likely won't be a problem for your home theater." I also knew Amazon would take it back for a full refund if it was a problem, so it decided it wasn't much of a risk anyway. Therefore, CNET and Amazon's return policy assuaged my fear, and I have had zero problems with audio not coming in as it should from right out of the box.For a little background into my decision-making process - I live in an apartment with a small-medium size living room, so I wasn't looking for a huge 7.1 surround sound system. I have a 60" Panasonic (P60GT30) plasma tv. My goal was to upgrade the plasma's speakers with something that sounded much crisper and lively for watching regular television, but also packed some rich room-filling bass for the action scenes on blu rays or for playing video games like Call of Duty of XBOX 360. I am also hoping it plays music pretty solidly for the Pandora app on my tv. I considered many different sound bars, as well as some 5.1 HTIB's (Home Theater System's in a Box), and also gave the Bose Cinemate II sound system a long look. I'm a fan of a less-cluttered look, so I was looking to avoid a system that needed a bulky receiver. I was willing to spend up to around $650, but would obviously prefer to spend less if I could get a solid sound system.I seriously considered some of the 5.1 HTIB's (Home Theater System's in a Box), but I already have a blu ray player and access to online apps like Netflix, HBO Go, Amazon Prime, Pandora, etc. via both my XBOX 360 and my smart tv, so most of the features of the newer HTIB's would have been much use to me. My old roommate bought a $500-$600 Sony HTIB last year. It sounded pretty good, but my big problem with it was that the dialogue would get drowned out or come in much lower than more "explosive" scenes. So it made watching a movie at night (if one of us were trying to sleep) difficult because we'd have to turn volume up high to hear dialogue, then we'd get blown away by the volume of loud scenes. I was looking to avoid drowning out of dialogue, and I was also not very impressed with the HTIB's that I went and listened to at Best Buy. Therefore, I decided to skip the HTIB's.What I really considered was the Bose Cinemate Series II speakers. I was very impressed with what I heard at BestBuy, and I was drawn in to how small the speakers were, but they still packed some real power with a separate bass unit. However, in the end I ultimately decided against the Bose system because I felt the price being a bit high($600), the fact that I read some complaints about the dialogue getting drowned out, and the CNET's rave review of this Haier sound bar really sold me that it could be just what I was looking for. Long story short, I researched many of the other top selling sound bars, and what I read from CNET and elsewhere made me thing this sound bar offered the best mix of features and ability, so I went with it.Without further ado, my pros and cons of the Haier SBEV40-Slim Soundbar with Wireless Subwoofer:Pros:1. Very easy set up. Right out of the box, the feet (included or wall mount brackets) assemble onto the soundbar in seconds. From there, it is just plugging into wall and making a connection or two with your selected device(s). I currently have my cable, blu ray, and Xbox all hooked up to my tv with HDMI, so I just bought a $5 digital audio cableAmazonBasics Digital Optical Audio Toslink Cable, 6 Feet, and hooked up strait from the TV to the sound bar, and that was it. I never have to change inputs on the soundbar. Whatever I have playing through the tv, plays through the soundbar speaker and sub. It's got good connectivity with a variety of inputs too, if you'd rather connect strait to the soundbar then the TV. All I had to do was plug the sub woofer into the wall and it automatically synced up with the speaker.2. Crisp, clear sound. Dialogue sounds great.3. Overall slim design is awesome. That is one of the main unique features of this soundbar is that it is so much more stylish and less bulkly than nearly all others that I have seen on the market. Big thumbs up on being able to do this but not have a dropoff in sound quality compared to other soundbars. For anyone who has a wall mounted plasma/LED, this is the perfect sound bar with its 1.1" profile, and included mounting equipment. If they can make tv's as thin as they are nowadays, why should the sound bars be 5-6" thick? Haier is ahead of the game in this matter. The sub woofer is a slim build too, but it packs some very deep and clear bass (plenty for special effects to sound great). I was a little worried that maybe the sub would not be up to what I wanted, given the slim design, but that is not the case.4. The wireless Sub and the Speaker really work well in unison right out of the box. This was one of CNET's big points about it, and I have to say I agree 100%. Overall, the bass just seems to be in perfect harmony with the sound bar.5. I really like and appreciate the fact that the sound bar has a light up LED screen that shows when you change setting, go up or down in volume levels, or mute it. Many other sound bars do not have screens, and I really like the fact that it disappears after a few seconds.6. Price. Around $250, it is very reasonably priced for sound bars, while I personally feel like it is the top class of soundbars and would have expected its price to be in line with the highest premium-priced sound bars. It's a great deal in my opinion.7. Plenty loud and can fill the room with ease. Like I said, my living room is an apartment that is not too big, but I think it would do fine in a relatively large room too (20 x 15). I love what it does for movies and playing video games. Makes them so much more engrossing. Music from Pandora sounds pretty darn good too. And just for reference, the volume goes up to 25, and I typically watch tv at around level 6.Cons1. While I like the simplicity and look of the remote control, I dislike how flimsy it feels (light plastic). I just feel like this soundbar and sub deserve a more substantial, less cheap-feeling remote.2. You can't tinker with individual settings, such as bass level. As I said above, I really love the synchronization of the bass, so i's really not an issue for me. However, are a few pre-set settings to switch through (Surround, Movie, Music, News), and one of these settings usually fits whatever I am looking to listen to. However, if it is late at night and you are watching a movie, the bass may be a slight bit loud at certain points if others are sleeping in close rooms. However, there is the option on the remote to completely turn off the subwoofer, just not the option to change its volume, which would be nice to have.3. Soundbar slightly blocks my tv IR reader. This is a problem with many soundbars if you place right in front of tv where the IR reader is. Would be nice if the sound bar shot out the signals it received from remote to the rear for the tv IR, (which I believe I saw on a Yamaha sound bar), but it does not have this functionality. With that said, it's not a problem with me because I can do some minimal remote angling and it will get to the tv with ease.4. While I really like the sound of this sound bar, it is still a soundbar, and you aren't going to get a great or true Surround Sound experience. This soundbar and some others try to sell that you get the surround sound feeling with just the front speaker(s), but I am just not really buying into it. It fills the room great, but you don't hear the car come from behind like you may with a rear speaker surround system. All in all, I am very impressed and pleased with the sound, style, and price of this sound bar - 5 stars for sure!

1Be careful about audio type
By Keller: Monster Hunter U!
This particular soundbar is nice looking and sounds great. It has ample inputs including 3 HDMI, optical and direct line in. The remote control is nice and easy to use. The sub woofer is wireless and very easy to use as well. So why only 1 stars; well because this soundbar only accepts PCM audio, not stuff like dolby digital. So basically it works great with my ps3 and Wii, however it doesn't work with OTA HDTV. OTA HDTV broadcasts in dolby digital, my TV only has an optical output so I cannot use the soundbar when watching TV, which isn't what I wanted, especially when football starts. So be warned, if you need this soundbar to broadcast dolby digital, buy something else, it will not work on this soundbar. If I would have known this before buying, I would have went with a different soundbar. Otherwise a great product, it is a shame and a huge weakness that this soundbar does not support more audio types. Honestly I pretty much wasted $250.

5What a surprise!
By David Y
Got this from Fry's last week. And wow, what a difference in sound. Didn't expect the sound quality to be so good. I generally am pretty picky about my sound quality and have gotten 3 sound bars to compare: the LG 3510A (low bass, no HDMI), the vizio vht215 (ugly, ARC didn't work correctly) to this. This is by far the best one out of the bunch. The sound is crystal clear, bass is clear and rich.Bottom line: Awesome value, and looks great to boot!

5Excelent for the price.
By Gustavo
Hello,This is a really good laptop for the price. When I first buy this i thought it would be too big, cause it's 17.3. But I was wrong It's Perfect! And it's not heavy. It also heave a really good ventilation system, Keeps it really cool.Beside that I can play almost every game in Market with good settings. I can play Dota 2 everything on maximum with 0 lag, it did not tested other games yet tough. But, for 700 bucks it's a really good deal! RECOMEND.

5Better than expected
By Powermetal
So far so good, ive been testing it for a few days and runs everything smoothly, nice temps, its also quiet....im able to play borderlands 2 at 720p everything maxed out at 40-60 fps, i havent tested BF3 yet but i figured it shouldnt have any problems, in conclusion the 640m is a very capable gpu backed up by an incredible ivy i5 processorthe build quality seems quite solid, usb 3.0 ports are pretty much appreciated..on another hand the screen doesnt have a good view angle so it could be a pain if you dont watch it right in frontbottom line, very good laptop for the price, if you dont need a huge gaming laptop but still want to play some decent games get this one!

1Best laptop for the price
By Zomz
While I did have 1-day shipping, the laptop came well packaged and in perfect condition. I first opened the box to see a VERY large and shiny new laptop and began to mess with it. Turned it on, typed in my preferences, and got going in about 5 minutes. There was not a whole lot of bloatware; it was gone fairly quickly. Over the next few hours, I learned about all of the wonderful features that I did not pay attention to when I bought it.Pros:*Large screen; 1600x900 resolution*Bright colors*Great Processor, Nice RAM, good Graphics card*plays all of my games on highest graphics with no problems (LoL, GW2, D3, minecraft)*Runs quiet*Dolby Home Theater; the sound bar sounds almost like surround sound. The sound is simply amazing.*HD camera / Mic*Windows 8 is AMAZING*Fantastic internet connection*Dual Hard drive supportCons:*Kind of slow Hard drive; this is okay because there is support to put in an SSD (only costs around $100)*ultra finger print magnet*Being a gaming Laptop, you are going to have a low battery life and there is really nothing you can do about this no matter which gaming laptop you get, even being low end as this one is. However, this is okay because you will have it plugged in all of the time anyway since the laptop can run in high performance when it is plugged in.*Being a glossy type screen, the colors are brighter, but it is very glary outside. This is also not a big deal because you will need it plugged in most of the time anyway.Final Thoughts:I love to play games, but I needed a laptop over a desktop and I needed it to be cheap. $700 for a low end gaming laptop is an amazing price (This would be a good price for even a desktop). Other laptops with the same stats should go for $900-$1000, but Acer is a great company with an amazingly low price. With all of the extra features, this is, BY FAR, the best laptop you could possibly buy for only $700. I would suggest this to anyone looking for a gaming laptop on a budget.********EDIT******IMPORANT*****So I come home today and my power jack is cracked and it got pushed in, completely trashed; I have to find a way to fix it myself. I call acer and ask them if it's covered in the warranty and they told me that it would cost $199 to fix a power jack that is pushed back. I'm not going to buy anything from this company again, I am genuinely disappointed in Acer for this. The laptop is made of cheap plastic and it's only a matter of time before everyone has the same complaints as me. Don't buy this laptop.
