5Finally, some decent desktop speakers.
By ruminator
I've tried so many different computer speakers that I've lost count. The speakers that come with any new computer go straight into the trash without even being connected. That's a given. Then comes the dilemma of what to replace those cheap little tin cans with. I'm not a finicky audiophile. I just want good sounding speakers with moderately loud volume capability in a 2.0 configuration. I don't have the room or the desire for a large third component for booming base. These speakers are getting the job done like no other speakers I've ever owned.I cannot express how happy it makes me to turn the volume knob and NOT hear the speakers crackling. Apparently, this requires some top secret speaker engineering, because I've never had a pair of desktop speakers that did NOT crackle or lose output on one of the speakers whenever I touched any of the knobs on them. I'm very pleased with these speakers.

5Sound isn't just about what you hear, it's what you listen to.
By NateManDo
So, the delima that is today's PC speakers. Until now I had been using a Klipsch Pro Media 4.1 setup for almost 7 years. When finally the static in the volume knob degraded into a bad sounding sub (like it was blown, but not) and finally a dead amp.Creative Labs Gigaworks Series II T40You may read reviews about how these speakers recuscitate hind parts when it comes to bass. I just got mine delivered today and purchased them sight unheard. After a month of research, I narrowed my focus to the M-Audio Studiophile AV40 ($200), Creative Labs GigaWorks Series II T40 ($140) (important to note Series II due to minor desirable enhancements), Creative Labs Gigaworks Series II T20 ($90), Bose Companion 2 ($90) and a Dayton Audio ($150) solution featuring Class T amp (50 watts/channel), 6.5" Bookshelfs and left the door open for a matching 80 watt 8" sub ($100).I am using a Sound Blaster X-FI Titanium HD (THX) sound card. I will be listening to my music library on iTunes and general gaming. My GoalSpeakers that handled the entire vocal range and highs very nicely. Imaging was important. Only being 24 inches away from the speakers, I need to feel the vocals hitting my face and not my chest. Speakers need space and direction to achieve imaging. Remember, your head is on TOP of your shoulders, ;). An inheritent design problem with most pc speakers. You don't lay your head on the desk to use your PC. Yet most pc speakers are flat on the base and sit on your desk, pointing right into your chest. My CriteriaStereo sound (2.0), fit and finish, build quality, vocal sound quality, imaging, sound controls and design simplicity.I had listened to the Bose Companion 2. For $90 they seem worth every penny. My boss has them at work and I've listened to them on display, as well. They lack sound controls (except volume) and have a natural hollow sound you'd expect from 1 driver trying to do all the work in a plastic cabinet. But they fill the listening space good and seem decently built. Also, they are tilted slightly but not enough. Within 2 or 3 feet on a standard desk, they hit around your shoulders.I never got to listen to the M-Audio AV40's. After reading several complaints on multiple sites, I noticed complaints about build quality on some of the jacks and about the amps getting hot. One thing about amps, they need surface area and ventilation to truly last. Heat is the enemy. They seem to have all the makings of great speakers, but I'm not a fan of coincidence. When build quality complaints seem to echo across the reviews I read, I axed them.I really stressed over the Dayton Audio solution. But ultimately it came down to too many parts. I wanted an integrated solution. Also, again we are dealing with bookshelf speakers pointing at my chest. Axed.So then I turned my attention to the Creative Labs Gigaworks series. The next decision was not as simple as it may appear. T20's or T40's? Imaging, remember? 2 midrange/midbass drivers are better than 1. The "mini tallboy" profile didn't bother me with a 27" LCD. And after all of the reviews I read, no one complained about vocal quality. In fact, imaging and vocal quality were always praised. So, T40's it was.My ImpressionSo, I've been listening to them for about 2 hours and I can say... imaging and vocal clarity are AWESOME. BUT, you've got to be patient with them. Due to their directional nature and (lack of) bass performance, you really need to tweak your equalizer settings, the speakers treble and bass controls and find the right balance between your audio drivers volume and the speakes volume control. Because these speakers entertain so much control over the sound, they TAKE TIME TO DIAL-IN. Be patient. Also, higher quality drivers need break in time. Typicaly 75 - 100 hours of music. New drivers are "stiff". They reproduce sound in a very tight and unforgiving nature. They need time to "loosen" to their natural responsive nature. Once broke-in, they deliver a more forgiving and fuller sound. Even after just a few short hours, I've noticed how the speakers are sounding better. And remember, you've got 3" drivers... don't try to shake the room. Tweak the equalizer and controls to filter out unneeded frequencies until you find the speakers sounding "full". If you want to rattle windows and walls, get an 8" or 10" sub... SERIOUSLY. The most fundamental rule about bass.... the more air you move, the more bass you create. Also, if you're PC speakers are also your primary source for listening to music, you'll want a 2.1 system. You need a sub.So, if these speakers don't perform well for bass, why do they get great reviews? Remember the 3 rules?1) Know your space (room size), 2) know your taste (what are you listening to) and 3) know what it takes (the type of speaker needed). Most of the reviewers don't get their prime listening enjoyment from PC speakers. They're getting it from their theater or car. I don't demand bass from my PC experience. For me, a PC is about immersion into the screen. Thus, the "space" is about 2 to 3 feet. Forget bass, it's all about imaging at that distance.Vocals, Sound Quality and StagingYou will be amazed at how much range you have with the treble and bass controls. I had read in one review that the bass control seems to give more response than the speakers can handle. This is true. But not all music and sound is created equal. It's nice to be able to compensate lesser audio sources at the speaker level. That's what the bass and treble controls allow. You just have to be patient finding the sweet spot.I don't notice any imperfections in the sound quality. No hissing, crackling or straining in the higher frequencies. The vocals are tight, punchy and warm. The highs are smooth, efficient, accurate and effortless. Staging is excellent.Fit and FinishAs for fit and finish, they are very appealing. Their controls have a polished "all business" look about them. The power on/off is built into the volume button (one of those Series II things). People have complained about the blue light on the Series I. So, they moved it so it's now a backlight on the volume knob. It can be a bit distracting if you're OCD.Design Simplicity3 connections (power, companion speaker and stereo input jack). The power converter is reminiscent of a laptop's. The install is clean and not jumbled with a snakepit of wires. Each tower has a "foot" that screws in. And the speaker grills remove to reveal some elegant looking drivers.Build QualityThis was one of the primary reasons I went with these speakers. And I'm glad I did. They have a very sturdy feel. Very nice weight. The amp produces nice clean sound. And the drivers, when tuned correctly, are very true to their design. Even the grill is nice!In conclusion, don't buy these speakers thinking your buying a small concert stage with mics, guitars, drums and amps to listen to your favorite band bang out those heavy electric tunes.Instead, your buying a bar stool and acoustic guitar for your favorite singer to sing to an audiance of one. And your chair is only 2 feet away.Know your space. Know your taste. And know what it takes.Good luck!

5Great Speakers for the price and no sub!
By WhoHa
I didn't have room for a sub on my desk and really wanted some good speakers. I just use them for music. After reading tons of reviews on-line about speakers I finally decided on these. Make sure you get the series 2 though because series 1 has some flaws such as the bright blue light on the front and the power switch being on the back of the speaker. These are great speakers with great sound and look really cool. The bass doesn't pound obviously but for the size of them it is much better than others.

3Great but beware
By Torianto Utley
The product was easy to set up and it sounds great that is until the sound cuts off on you. The very first time I hooked this up I was watching Battle LA which is a great movie to test your surround sound. I had it on volume 25 on the PL Movie surround sound setting. It has great bass and the speakers are crisp and clear. After about 5 seconds of constant rumbling from the movie the sound cut off. I turned it off and back on and it worked so I thought it was nothing. Well in order for it to work I had to have the volume lower than 25 which does not serve a good purpose as a surround sound system. The level goes up to 32 so 25 wasn't that bad. I looked the product up on google and many people have the same problem. They think it is overheating but I think it's a manufacturing problem. I am talking to Sony right now to see what they say. If they can't help me I will return it. I only had it one month but this has been happening since the unboxing on the first night.

5Loud and Clear
By Blk Jak
I just love this theater system, I have it connected to a sony 55 inch led tv and a sony blu bray player. Everything seems to work well together. The whole arrangement is connected by hdmi cables and as far as sound quality with the volume turned up to around 22 its like being in a movie theater. you could probably find a more expensive system but for some one wanting a good sounding system this is a steal for the price. Also remember to get an optical cable because you will need one, I bought one at best buy for 16 bucks.

5Love!!
By Misty
I bought this for my boyfriend for christmas. Hook up was easy, sounds great. Only issue i have had is the cd not being read i had to turn off and on 3 or 4 times and it worked perfect. the speakers are good as well, some stations/movies/shows are not in 5.0 audio so not all the speakers work just the main ones. other than that we are happy with the system.

5God addition to 3D TV
By Cavalier
This was an easy unit to install, everything fit well and connected easily. I mounted it on a shelf in in an armoire with the TV and DVD player with the woofer behind a couch. Everythiing ran well out of the box, improving the sound significantly. A great addition to the 3D LG TV.

LG NB3520A SOUND BAR SYSTEM is exactly what I was looking for. Super easy to install, they can't make it any easier and it sounds great. The room we installed it in is about 15' x 20' so space savings was a concern, no problems. I love the sound, midrange, highs, and bass are great. Very happy with purchase.

5Simple, But Good.
By Rex Kullmann
If you care about sound quality more than features, you might like this Denon AV receiver. This is a 5.1 surround receiver, meaning it can power a left, right, center, left and right surround and a subwoofer. I'm never going to have more than that, and I doubt most people will either unless they have a dedicated theatre room in their homes. That makes 7.1 receivers a waste for most of us.Speaking of waste, like some other manufacturers, Denon has eliminated some features that used to be standard. There are no "B" speakers, no component inputs, no analog audio output and no AM radio. In short, everything you wern't using anyway is gone now. What you get instead is 4 HDMI inputs plus one on the front, an ethernet port, 5 sets of good quality banana terminals for speakers, and a USB port on the front for your iPad/iPhone or flash drive. Useful stuff. I especially like the front mounted HDMI port. When my friend comes over with his Xbox in tow, I don't have to dig behind the receiver to plug it in.This receiver is new for 2012, and as you'd expect it supports all the current standards. HDMI supports 3D and audio return channel. Also new this year for Denon is a revised on-screen menu system. It's simple and clean and easy to use, but the set-up assistant feature is a bit silly. You're supposed to plug in the power cord and HDMI cable to your TV so the Denon can walk you through steps such as plugging in the HDMI cable from your Blu-Ray player into the Blu-Ray HDMI input on the back of the Denon. Big help. Set-up assistant is more helpful when you're establishing a network connection and using the included microphone to adjust sound settings automatically.Like other network AV receivers in this price range, This model has no wi-fi. To use network features, including the much-hyped AirPlay feature, you must run an ethernet cable to the receiver. That's not practical for me, and I bet it's not practical for most people. TVs and Blu-Ray players have wi-fi now. Why are receiver makers lagging behind? You can add wi-fi to these receivers with an Apple AirPort Express and probably other routers too. It'll cost you cash and cable clutter.Where the Denon doesn't skimp is on sound quality. Denon promotes its discrete circuitry, simplified signal paths and anti-vibration chassis and they do make a difference. I can say that the Denon does sound better to me than the run-of-the-mill Sony, Pioneer and Onkyo receivers out there. I suspect this Denon sounds similar to Sony ES and Pioneer Elite receivers, but I haven't listened to confirm that. The Denon always sounds unstrained and well balanced, rich and detailed. So, if you want to spend your money on sound quality and don't care as much about features, take a look at the Denon 1613.

5Denon AVR-1613 5.1- Great value AV receiver
By R dattan
I did a lot of research before settling on this Denon. I did look at the 1913 and a comparable Yamaha. The AVR 1613 was perfect for what I was looking for. So far I've owned this for a couple of months and the results are perfect. To clarify I was on a budget and knew what I wanted before hand. My configuration includes 2 Polk Audio Monitor 50 -2 way towers, a Polk subwoofer PSW10 and a center channel CS10. This combination is perfect and I had no interest in any surrounds, though the Denon does have the outputs to handle that. The sound is totally awsome whether its a movie or just music. And Amazon free shipping for all the above takes the cake.In addition hooked the Denon up to the internet and Pandora etc via a Linksys WET610N wifi bridge. So really having just ethernet on the receiver is no big deal. The linksys links up to my apple airport . What plugs in the receiver via HDMI- the PS3, a Sony DVD player( now audio cd player with optical toslink input), Directv, appleTV, roku and the wii. The airplay feature on the denon is terrific. This opens a new dimension in listening to music. Airplay on the appleTV works as well, but then you will need to go via the Apple TV and the receiver before the music hits the speakers. I prefer the shortcut from idevice to receiver for music. One note on airplay and airport though. If you use Mac address filtration on your airport/ or other router to filter which clients can hit your network, you will need to feed both the Linksys and the denon mac addresses into your router. I found this out after some digging around the linksys and denon IP interfaces. If you do not do this, the airplay icon on your iPhone or iPad will show the Denon receiver but when you try to stream music, it bounces back to the iOS device. The user interface of the Denon is quite basic but does everything that is needed to setup the system. The included Audyssey microphone does a good job of setting everything up. There are firmware upgrades available via the internet so I'm hoping Denon will keep this device in good shape for some time.Overall a solid receiver, with great sound- I also like the clean back interface without unnecessary inputs. With everything plugged in, I still have the front HDMI port available for any future inputs. So if you are looking for the sound clarity and have a limited budget, this denon 5.1 is made for you

4works perfectly, some issue with air play
By Nicolas
As many reviews point it out, after few hours of air play listening the sound is skipping every one or two seconds.it looks like a know issue because it's in the user documentation !So you just need to reboot it and it will work fine again.Except that little issue everything is working fine.On the apps side, Pandora is working really fine but the UI looks quite old and is not as good as the one you can get with a internet browser. You can get almost all the internet radio over the world which is good if you like to listen some music from another country. One feature that I love is that if I want to play a music from my iphone via air play it will turn on the receiver !

5Great division of channels
By Urges2585
I have listen to dozens of 5.1 and 7.1 home theater systems, but most of them are no more than adding a couple speakers to an old stereo. They don't have the best separation, and you can't really tell one channel from the other. Difference is, with this system I can hear the difference with every single channel of the system. Yet when you get in the middle of the room, and it feeds all at once, you have such great sound. It's truly excellent.

5Just for my room
By Heath Likes It
Give me music videos day and night and I am happy to go. Having this 5.1 really lets me enjoy them more and more, putting every bit of sound around the room as I listen to the video. It makes me feel like I am on stage with the band when I hear this sound. My folks keep telling me I should put the system in the family room so everyone can use it, but I say no, because then I can't wake up to my surround as great as this.

5Great Buy!
By Quintin Cantu
We've been running this projector for a week now. For the price - couldn't be happier! This is our 3rd home theater projector. 1st was an Infocus IN72 (480), second was the Mits HC1500 (720). After 4 years the 1500 was beginning to have issues, plus was due for its 3rd bulb replacement, so decided to upgrade to 1080. Researched the 8200 at Projectorcentral.com and Projectorreviews.com ... Both sites gave it a positive review and said that it was a good buy. Projectorreviews gave it a "Hot Product" rating. This thing is a light cannon. Super bright. Running it in Eco mode is fine even in a room that has ambient light. Blu Ray and HD-DVD performance is stunning. Awsome image clairity and sharpness. Rich, bright colors, good contrast and shadows. Coupled with the bright image the picture is very, very vibrant. My standard DVD player is an Oppo-981HD... Had to do some tweaking to get an acceptable image for upscaling to 1080... But, once there, all's good.Cons - The projector does need calibration... Projectorreviews.com has a detail of the suggested adjustments. Basically it's just tweaking of the R/G/B settings and the Brightness and Contrast settings. Downside - every time you power on the projector the R/G/B settings return to factory defaults so you have to go into menu and reset. That's a pain in the a$$ but, allowing for the projector's strong points, the 1-minute that takes is worth it. Other issue is placement. It has a high throw angle. The lens center line has to be about 13" below the bottom of the screen image. It has a vertical keystone adjustment but doesn't have a horizontal keystone adjustment so it will have to be pretty well centered on your screen.Aside from performance, add in the 3-year warranty on the projector and a 1-year warranty on the lamp, plus the rated lamp life (4000 hrs in bright and 6000 hrs in Eco) and, at this price, this projector is an incredible value purchase.Buy it!

4Pretty nice product -- a few weird oversights...
By D. Borough
I just upgraded from my old Dell mp3200 (ultra-portable business projector) to this one. The obvious goal here was to move to 1080p projection and streamline to just HDMI cables between all components. The Pro8200 does do that. I've been impressed so far, though I haven't really tested it thoroughly. Some people have complained about being able to see the color wheel at work -- if I really make an effort, I can see it -- but I could also see it with my old Dell. This is a silly critique, but it does kind of bug me -- the ViewSonic logo (bird) on the splash screen does not appear to be a pixel-pixel image!!?? So, it looks fuzzy/out of focus on the screen, which seems really silly to me. Everytime I start it up, I feel like I have to focus it. So, I just pull up the MENU and it's clear as day, confirming my focus setting has not changed. The projector does put out good light. Seems to keep up fine with BluRay. Overall I'm happy with it, although I expected a bit more than I'm getting from my upscale DVDs -- the old Dell seemed to do a bit better with those. Not sure why that would be.Worth it for $800, for sure (which is what I got mine for). Obviously cheaper is always better, but I was waiting until SOMETHING came out with a nice warranty and from a major seller than was priced under $1000, and finally it has happened -- after 7 years of waiting.

5The Nunn's

We absolutely love this projector. We bought it for our home theater and my husband has it projecting onto a 102" screen in a 12' x 18' room. The picture is amazing and we could not be happier. My husband is a techy, so we a surround sound, Direct TV, PS3, iPod station, computer, etc. hooked up to this projector. My 3 and 4 year old love watching movies on the big screen with their daddy.
