4Samsung HTD-550
By Marylander
I bought this after returning a Sony Home theater, not knowing what to expect. I read reviews on other Samsung Home Theater Systems and most of them got poor reviews. So I was very leery about buying this. Well I was pleasantly surprised. This was alot better than expected. The size of the speakers are very deceiving. As small as they are, they still produce a wonderful sound. The system definitely sounded better once i got it home than it did in the store. This system sets up very easily. The only downfall is the length of speaker wire for the rear speakers. As with any system the wires just aren't long enough. And they have special connectors that plug into the back of the system so I had to cut and splice the wire to make them longer. But other than that this system is WONDERFUL!! Great sound just enough bass.

3Great Upgrade
By Mike
Update 02/07/12:After several months, I have found this receiver to be underpowered. The subwoofer is quite weak and produces minimal bass. Also music playback just doesn't sound good at all. It comes out too low and doesn't amplify right. I wish I didn't read good reviews on it and just spent another $100 to $150 on a Yamaha system.Original Review:I have this system hooked up to my 46" Toshiba LED TV. The TV controls the receiver with no programming at all. The set-up is easy. The speakers do have connectors on the end of the already which is a pro and a con. You can just strip back connectors and either solder or twist off wire to make a connection if you have wire routed through the walls like I do. The subwoofer has a decent amount of bass. One of my favorite things about this system is it doesn't eat power as a 1000W system. I had a 325W Sony System before that would heat up my room because it used so much power, but this system sounds way better and allows better energy efficiency of most systems around. I hooked my TV up to it so I can have surround sound Digital Signal when watching basic cable, playing games, or watching movies. I also hooked up my computer audio to the receiver so I can listen to music off of my computer whenever as well. It is really easy to switch audio sources and the receiver can produce Dolby sound. I feel for what this receiver cost, it was a steal for $180. I would recommend and already have to many people.Pros-Energy Efficiency-Sound Quality-Easy Set-Up-All in One PlayerCons-May need to cut speaker wire if rout wires through walls and ceilingBottom Line: I recommend this system. Great Gift Idea as well.

5Great DVD player and kid friendly
By Kevin
This player works great. Plays DVDs, divx, mp3, etc... The Amazon description says it's wifi enabled but IT IS NOT. I was hoping to get a player that would play media off of my network, but I researched before I bought it and no other site said it had wi-fi, so I was mostly just hoping. Mysteriously, Samsung has no mention of this product on their website. Using the HDMI connection, if you turn this player on and put a disk in, my TV turns on and changes itself to the correct input. It's so easy that my 18 month old has learned how to get a movie going. The sound is great too. I had a philips home theater system before and the center channel was always too low. It was booming bass out of the subwoofer before the center channel was loud enough to hear voices. With this Samsung, the voices are clear and crisp. And the bass is great when you want it too. I really like the "touch sensitive" buttons. It's so easy to clean sticky kids fingerprints off the face.

CROON AUDIO Original Sound System Bluetooth Speaker (Grey)

Product Description

CROON Original Sound System Bluetooth connected stereo speaker

The CROON Original Sound System connects via Bluetooth to anything Apple like the iPad, iPhone and iPod or anything Android, Blackberry or Windows Phone7 - tablet, laptop, desktop or web appliance. If you have Bluetooth, Croon will play your music.

Constructed specifically to reproduce music accurately and sound great, the speaker looks spectacular in your home, integrating with your decor through its sophisticated simplicity. But most of all; It sounds amazing!

Our "hidden sauce" is a simple, time honored approach:
Grab a very respected Class D chipset amplifier with 35Watts RMS and stuff it inside the speaker enclosure. This amplifier helps our speaker deliver such rich acoustic sound that you need to hear and experience it to believe it.
Coupled with a well-developed Bluetooth chip from CSR the CROON Original Sound System will provide hours and hours of listening pleasure.

Old-school speaker building technology, today!

We build it the way it's supposed to be built. Our speaker walls are MDF 1/2 inch(13mm) thick - that's 1/2" walls for a unit whose external dimensions are just 6"x10"x16". We then gave the speaker enclosure a reflect port for more bass.

Convenient Volume Control

You control the sound from your phone/device. No need to get up to adjust the volume, unless of course you are like me and constantly misplace your phone :)

    4Great media machine
    By Joe_from_Issaquah
ORIGINAL REVIEW - 11/21/2012----Our Criteria for Selection----We were looking to retire our 5 year old laptop that was hooked up to our main tv (lcd, 1080p). We wanted a laptop/desktop/tablet media solution that would be cost-effective but at the same time meet our needs (HDMI-capable, fast(er) cpu with enough memory to not hiccup the OS in general, wireless-N for smooth streaming, sub-$500, be able to handle any new requirements we hadn't thought of). We currently have 3 PC's at home and we really didn't want to spend a paycheck on a 4th so being cost-effective was a very big need.We ruled out tablets right away since tablet technology was evolving so fast that we weren't sure if we'd still be using it 5 years down the road (let alone 9 months with a new release!). Laptops got a fair look and had a Dell laptop picked out until we saw this PC. We ended picking this PC because it had everything were looking for and then some. It was the ONLY one with a decently good chip (i3) in this price range (all other i3 chip machines were at least $100 more), wireless-N, HDMI, 1 TB SATA HDD, 6 Gb RAM, etc.----Setup----I hooked up the PC to our TV using HDMI. The quick setup guide sheet that came with the product showed that I should be able to. I turned the PC on and what happens? No video... So I grabbed one of our lcd monitors and that's when I find out, there's no DVI ports! A bit stunned since I've been used to seeing it on PC's for years now, I chalked it up to that's where we're headed I guess. As I'm thinking this, I notice a RGB port so I walk to my trove of wires and dig out a RGB male/male cable and hooked the monitor to the PC and viola. The windows setup itself was about 6-8 questions long and painless (sorry I wasn't counting the exact number but it wasn't that many.) For those of you thinking to use this for wireless right off the bat, it recognized our network right away and we were able to choose it from the list, of course you'd need to supply the password. After the questions, it asked me to wait while it was configuring for first use and that took about 5 full minutes, no biggie.Once the setup was completed, I unplugged my monitor, hooked up the HDMI cable from the PC to the TV again and this time there was video. So for those at home, no HDMI during first setup but you can use it afterwards. I'm sure there's a bios selection somewhere but this isn't work... and I didn't want to figure anything out and wanted to get this up in the least time possible!----Usage----ugh.. windows 8. I'm a life-long windows man, been in the industry for years and Bill's been feeding my family for a very long time but this new iteration of windows is going to get some used to. I don't have an opinion on Windows 8 yet since I haven't given it a fair shake but after fumbling around enough to open IE and stream some cartoons for my kids, I haven't gone back to give it a real shake down... We'll get to it eventually. eventually... Oh, the important part I need to add is, the picture is awesome using HDMI, youtube looks great as well as other streaming sites. I was a bit leery of the onboard video and shared memory but I haven't seen any problems.----Overall thoughts----It's only been a day but overall, I am very satisfied with our new media machine. Windows 8 is getting some used to but this isn't a review on Windows 8. Not having great experiences with Gateway in the past, we were kind of hesitant but for $379 what harm could it be we thought. But the machine is very responsive, streaming has been wonderful and we were able to get rid of our dvd player since we can use this machine instead. I figure we won't be putting office or any productivity-related products on here so I can't say if it'll chug through memory intensive programs. But for a media machine, we have definitely been surprised and would recommend.---------------------------------------------------------UPDATE - 11/25/2012It's been a few days since we've had the machine up and we still have no qualms about it and are enjoying it very much. A few additional things of note that was left off, in no particular order:-There's no restore disk but from what I've read, that's the current trend (?) although this is a first for me. I have yet to look for info on any on-disk recovery options as I haven't needed it but thought I'd throw it out there.-The machine itself is very quiet and we can hardly hear the fan while its on.-The keyboard and mouse are wired-usb-Bloatware is very minimal as I could see some people using all the programs that come with the initial install. We personally uninstalled about 4 programs but it was personal preference. I remember getting rid of 10+ programs when we got our retired laptop so 4 was surprising for us.-No remote desktop since this is not the pro version of Windows 8.

4It does what I need to do.
    By johtron
I got tired of building units and decided to buy one built. The price was right and the components good enough for my needs. Just use it for email and search for electronics and tools on sale (retired now). So far its working fine. Hope it continues that way.

5Great Design - Fast Processing - Unbelieveable Price
    By M. Rydman
I've always built my own PC's but after looking at prices and realizing I could get a new PC for the same or less money. Two things I wanted - a PCI-E video card (or an open video port to install one of my choosing), Intel processor, and Bluetooth. I can't believe what I got for my money. The Gateway DX4860 is fast, stable, and ready to go out of the box (barring my preferred array of software applications). This machine exceeds all of my expectations even after reading everything I could find on it. My only disappointment was Windows 8. But apparently this is hard to avoid in a new PC. If you are used to Win 7 or XP you are in for some frustrating times until you get the hang of it. Some might consider the plastic components a little flimsy but I try to be careful with my PCs and avoid dropping them or throwing them across the room :-). The little tray on top of the machine is cool, as well as the top compartment with a stanctioh that allows you to wrap and hide the extra slack from the USB cables you might be using. The placement of the 4 front facing USB ports is also cool. Too bad the USB 3.0 are on the rear panel. The plastic front door panels might break over time if you aren't careful but what you get for the price is worth it. I'd rather they skimped a little on the unnecessary goodies than on the core components. It's quiet, powerful, and versitle. For me the on-board video will be replaced with a 2 gig GT series Nvidia or something like it. Sound quality is fine right out of the box. Windows 8? "Stupid" comes to mind. WiFi is good, as are all the other primary features. Your choice of software will be the determining factor in customizing this Gateway. Other than the video card, you won't be needing to upgrade for quite a while.

5I upgraded my HTCT100 and couldn't be happier - expansive sound, easy setup, and great price - Bluetooth a major bonus as well
    By Joel Avrunin
Premium television sets used to advertise their screen size, image sharpness, and sound quality. Not any more. When you buy the latest LG, Sony, or any other LCD, LED, or Plasma display, the speakers are always on the back and very tinny with little bass response. In short, the television manufacturers do not expect you to actually use the speakers in the TV. Many diehard audiophiles will decide to spend hundreds or even thousands of dollars on stereo receivers hooked up to surround sound speakers. For those with lots of money, space, and the time to set it up, these home theaters can be great. For the rest of us, we want quality sound from our televisions that is compact and easy to setup. This is the place where the Sound Bar really shines. There are many brands with some similarities - you typically get a long speaker to go under the TV itself, either on its own stand or mounted on the wall. There is also a separate sub-woofer for deep noise response. This Sony HTCT260 was an upgrade to my existing Sony HTCT100. Despite similar names, they are quite different. To start, the Sony HTCT100 was a total of 250W of sound - three 50W speakers in the bar and a 100W subwoofer. The Sony HTCT260 is 300W - two 85W front speakers and a 130W subwoofer. Whether the front is two or three speakers is immaterial - they are all inside a single bar.The Sony HTCT100 had a subwoofer that plugged into the wall, and the audio from the source plugged into the subwoofer. Then the Sound Bar plugged into the subwoofer with a proprietary cable. That meant the subwoofer had to be near the sound bar. However, it also meant that the subwoofer was a receiver in itself, with HDMI pass thru, analog input, and optical input. HDMI pass-thru means you can plug your Blu-Ray player into the subwoofer, and then plug the subwoofer into the TV. It had multiple HDMI inputs so the Sony HTCT100 could switch between sources. The Sony HTCT260 does away with the HDMI select capability - in fact, it doesn't have HDMI input at all, and the inputs are on the sound bar, not the sub-woofer. The sub-woofer is a remote wireless device, so it can be placed anywhere, a major bonus. It is shorter than the HTCT100 subwoofer, despite being more watts, is easier to conceal. The only inputs are on the bar itself, consisting of Analog, Coaxial, and Optical. Why did they make this change? Consider my use of the HTCT100. When I bought a TV that had networking capability, it meant that half the time I was using my TV, it was for content from the TV itself. Since my TV had lots of HDMI inputs, it meant every device could also plug into the TV. I eventually stopped using the HDMI passthrough and just plugged the optical out from my TV into the HTCT100.Since I assume most people have similar televisions now, the removal of the HDMI inputs and the wireless subwoofer of the HTCT260 makes sense. In terms of style, the sound bar is sharp looking, a little longer and wider than the HTCT100, and with a built-in display, it looks really good in my TV setup. There are touch sensitive input select and volume buttons on the front, so you can adjust it even if you lose the remote control. Most important, how does it sound? In a word, amazing. I was dubious that the extra 50W would mean anything, but I found the sound far more immersive and expansive than with the HTCT100. Previously on the HTCT100, I had actually hit the MAX and still thought the sound was too quiet for some sources, but now I can crank up the volume and actually get it too loud. The bass is full and can be felt, but is not overpowering. Simple "sound field" buttons on the remote allow you to adjust the effect for movies, games, or music. With the subwoofer placed in the back of the room, I can achieve most of the surround sound effect without having to run wires and place tons of speakers. Finally, pairing the speaker with my iPhone via Bluetooth couldn't be simpler. I hit "Pairing" on the remote, and about 30 seconds later I was blasting Tchaikovsky through the speakers from the iPhone.Highly recommended - I'm sure you could get better sound with a more expensive system, but bang for the buck, I am totally happy with this sound bar and highly recommend you get one to go with your new television set.

    5Boooyyyy was I wrong!!!
    By Mr. Brown
Before I say anything about this system I will have to declare that I am a big Bose fan, I have two home theater systems, wave system, computer speakers, bluetooth..all from Bose.I received the HT260 free from the purchase of a sony Bravia. I thought it was one of those cheaply made systems so I left it sitting in my garage for weeks waiting to figure out how to dispose of it. I mounted my new TV on the wall but had a hard time mounting my Bose on the wall without all those wires showing so I decided to try the HT260 and Boooyyyy was I wrong.I packed up my Bose immediately and I do not miss it a bit. Sound quality is awesome and this is from someone who has listened to a Bose for the past 10 years. I was so impressed by the amount of base from the wireless subwoofer. I love the fact that I am able to place it anywhere without any wires in the way. What did it for me was the bluetooth connectivity to any device. I played music from my iphone while walking around with the phone in my pocket. My Bose couldn't do that. This system is great and I wish I had mounted in as soon as I received it. If you are contemplating buying this system, don't hesitate, it is awesome!

5Good sounding system with great feature set
    By SpadesSD
I've been meaning to upgrade from the TV speakers on my Panasonic plasma for a while. The internal speakers were fine for my needs--plenty loud and all. But I just wanted something with a little more bass and more "richness".I saw the CT260 for 200 $ at a black Friday sale and figured this was the time to upgrade. The setup was a breeze and the sound is an improvement from before. I would recommend this for anybody looking to upgrade from stock speakers at a reasonable price.Pros* Bluetooth connectivity. Easily paired with my phone and can play music, internet radio, etc. Love this feature!* Wireless sub. Great to have the flexibility to place this someplace hidden or near a free power outlet.* Optical input. I thought I wanted something with HDMI inputs but realized that all my AV devices go through the TV anyway. Directly connecting the audio from the TV is a much easier and logical setup. There're other models with comparable features and HDMI inputs (for more money)--but do you really need it? Plus, TOShttp://amzn.com/dp/B00945RAQY/?tag={komponelektr-20} cables are cheaper and less bulky than HDMI cables.* Nighttime feature. Seems like this lowers the volume and disables the sub so you don't disturb the neighbors or others in the house. I returned a soundbar previously because the bass was getting so annoying the only way to get rid of the thumping was to unplug the sub. This feature takes care of that with a press of a button.* Front display and control on sound bar. Nice to be able to see the mode/input/volume and access things like on/off, volume and input from the unit and not have to do everything from the remote.* Custom settings. You can adjust the bass and treble and choose from presets for movie, music, "standard", etc.* Accessories. Comes with optical cable and batteries so everything you need to get going is in the box.* Good sound. It may even be great but I'm not an audiophile. The volume can go up beyond what I normally need and there're no distortions or artifacts that I can hear. The bass is nice and strong.Cons* Standby. Unit doesn't come out of standby automatically when I turn on the TV. (There may be a feature to disable standby but I haven't looked for it yet)* Hexagon design. It's a unique look but I'm not totally sold on it.* Another remote to deal with. The remote can't control my TIVO and my TIVO remote can't control it, so stuck with two remotes for now.* Menu. The display only may be enough to find the setting you want, but you probably need to reference the manual when navigating the menu system. This is probably a weakness of all soundbarsIn all, the features are great and the sound is good. The weaknesses are small and don't really detract from the overall value. I'm happy with the purchase--even more so with the discount.

4Great sounding system although misleading about 7.1
    By Elliott J
Let me start off by saying I have a very keen ear. I rate many audio setups and speaker systems. All true audiophiles know that a HTIB just simply cannot replicate the sound quality of a component system made up of true, high-quality manufactured speakers. That being said, you will not find a closer alternative than this new Samsung system with vacuum tubes. I have owned 4 HTIBs from different manufacturers and I have found Samsung and LG to be at the top, with Sony coming in close behind LG.Audio - The main reason one would spend this amount of money on a system is for the audio. You want your blu-rays, video games, audio cds and mp3's to come to life and spring out of every speaker. Does this system do that? Absolutely. There is no denying the work that Samsung has put into approaching the high-end audio side of things. These speakers clearly sound better than previous Samsung systems and I feel for people who purchased last year's D model of this system. Of course, knowing Samsung, by next year a new version of this will be out and I will be feeling sorry for myself for this purchase. But that's the market. Always something coming out that's better and that is another downfall of HTIB's. Every year they improve upon the previous year's model and the old model is left in the dust. Component systems have longevity and are able to be upgraded as the owner sees fit. But as I stated earlier, you will not find a better alternative to a component system, at least not right now. Also note that the dual-unit subwoofer is bigger, louder, and way clearer than previous year samsung models. The "boom box effect" that many people complained of is not present with this sub. It produces the highs and lows accurately.Video - Personally, I feel that blu-ray is clear on any player and that the quality of your video will depend on your television set. I have tested over 20 blu ray players from many brands and while some elements may have been different such as the ability to darken or lighten the screen, or a complicated menu style, the raw blu ray presentation stayed relatively the same. So I cannot advocate purchasing this system based on improved video quality over any other blu-ray player or last year's model for example. Same goes for dvd upconversion. It seems exactly the same as last year's model, although, there are some blu-ray players that do upconvert dvd's better than others. Samsung is pretty good with that on the 4 players I tried out and they were consistent with each other.Features - There are many apps, including a full web browser but I found it to be choppy and slow. I'll stick to my laptop for surfing the web, although it is a nice idea. The other apps are just like previous years models and have nothing new that I care to comment on. I could not recommend buying this system strictly for the web apps either since many blu ray players, tvs, and HTIBS include different variations of each one.Worth the price? No. This is where I must warn potential buyers. First off, this is NOT a 7.1 system. Sure there are 7 speakers and a sub, but the 2 front speakers on the top of the towers are simply mirrors of the speakers under it. If you do not have the system in 3D sound mode, nothing will come out of these top 2 speakers, even if you are viewing a blu-ray with a 7.1 audio track selected. This is clearly a marketing scheme by Samsung to trick people into believing they are getting a 7.1 system. The speakers sound great though and the subwoofer does seem to get louder with the 3D sound enabled. Also, there is an equalizer so one may adjust certain settings if they are familiar with what each khz setting does. I am, and I found it to be useful and it made a difference with the material I was listening to.Overall, I would say to purchase this system when the price goes down to at least 5 or 6 hundred dollars, but by then, next year's model will probably be out and will improve on this year's somehow. Still, for those curious about the vacuum tube amp addition that Samsung made a huge deal out of, I would say that it does significantly improve audio so it is not just a big hype. But this is not a true discrete 7.1 system and that is a disappointment.

4Sounds good for what it is.
    By FAN of FUN movies
I've always been a seperate component owner. This is my first HTIAB, I was searching for wireless rear speakers, a much better option for me than just a soundbar (this is for the living room, I do have a Vizio VHT 510 real 5.1 soundbar in the bedroom, works great). For starters, it's not a true 7.1, it's a 5.1. There are only 2 physical side/rear speakers, not 3 or 4 for a true 6.1 or 7.1 (they are claiming that the top speakers on the two front towers make it 7.1 but virtual, that's just BS, who puts rear speakers on front towers) Naughty advertising there Samsung, shame shame. Also be aware that it comes with a passive SW, not self powered. That being said, I was surprised how good it sounds. Very clear speakers, and for a passive SW not bad, pretty beefy. The real surprise here and good news is that the wireless rear speakers work incredible (still need wires to the rear transmitter though), well done there Samsung. The player/receiver worked smooth enough, it allows you to manually set speaker distance and levels.I would recommend it even with it not being a true 7.1 and it being pricey.

    5The best sound quality
    By Maverick
Well... I bought this product from another store last week but leaving my review here because Amazon is the only place with comparably bad reviews of this model based on some wrong information.Actually, I visited many review sites before I bought this great product and the reviews on Amazon really made me hesitate to buy this one. But, now I'm very satisfied and want to leave my review here.Firstly, the sound is really good, the best one among those I've ever tried in this price range.Secondly, it is 7.1 channel. I don't know why the others wrote that it is not. Please compare this model with HT-E6500W. It is 5.1 channel with the same speakers. However, this model, E6730W, has additional top speakers hooked by separate cables. Those top speakers are really working thru separated channels. The only difference from the traditional 7.1 channel system is the location of the speakers. Those top speakers faces to the ceiling of the room and makes the similar effects as those traditional 7.1 channel speakers placed both sides.Even though it comes with 6 speakers, the front speakers have top speakers working separately.People may have different preferences but I think it is still 7.1 channel. That's the fact.Again, I was surprised by its exclusive sound quality.
