Not bad at all.
By Tomz
Before I start... Let's not forget its a $148 5.1 System-Its great for a small living room or a small bedroom.-The sound is clear and has enough bass for its size.-Dvd system is not bad either. Basically a some what basic Dvd player with build in amp.-Compare to my Panasonic 50' Plasma tv speakers this 5.1 System is a 100% improvement... you know what make it 200% improvement. The only thing that I found lacking is the rear speaker wires. Its enough for a small space and that's it, but you can always have it extended if you have the tools. For the price Ill give it a 5 star for its simplicity to use and a great starter 5.1 system, The sound quality is really good even though the speakers are tiny it will still give you a smile.

More Features Than Listed
By Robert Noland
When I was looking for a reasonably priced Samsung surround system, I wanted to run HDMI to my TV and also have an aux input to play an iPod through. The feature list on the HTE550 did not list all the inputs on the unit for some reason. In a web search, I found a PDF of the system manual and showed FM radio, HDMI, 2 aux inputs, one on the front of the unit for an iPod and one in the rear. Also component input and optical audio as well. So pretty much everything you need except an HDMI out, which wasn't an issue for my set-up. Overall, this is a great unit, particularly if you own a Samsung TV and can utilize the Anynet feature built-in.

I love it
By NEMESIS
I just got this unit today, and I can say wow what an improvement from my old one. For starters the sound is way sharper, and the bass is enough to shake the house. The unit is beautiful the speakers etc... look very expensive lets say, the cords have a solid plastic tip that plugs right in unlike my old unit where they used old fashioned wires with the soldered tip. The sound options are the best you can adjust the sound to your preference, and you can sync the sound to your TV if your like me, like to use both so there's no echo etc... The remote is big not to mention simple I can go on, but take my advice ignore some of the nay sayers, and just try it out I love it total upgrade on my home theater setup. I run an optical cable from my TV to the unit so everything is surround sound xbox, direct TV, blu ray, and my roku couldn't ask for more. I haven't got around to the hdmi yet because I don't want to spend $100 till then I'm more than satisfied with the optical cable. Let's be honest unless your in the woods etc... this unit is more than capable of getting the cops called on you for disturbing the neighbors. Sound is fantastic bass is just wow, and the whole look/setup of the unit is awesome. I don't think it's Bose, but then again on a poor mans budget it's pretty damn good.
