5Sleek appearance - Awesome sound!
By majormusiclover
This is a HUGE improvement from the sound we were stuck with, when we recently purchased a new 32" Vizio T.V.Inside this soundbar is six 3" 20-watt full range drivers, and one 4" 40-watt dual subwoofer. This combination gives a much richer and balanced sound, and has more volume then our T.V.This bar is SO easy to hook up:1. Plug the POWER ADAPTER (the little black box) into the back of the unit FIRST.2. Plug the AC ELECTRIC CORD into the power adapter.3. Plug the other end of the AC ELECTRIC CORD into your wall outlet LAST.4. If using RCA cables, plug into L/R 'out' jack of T.V.,and plug other end into L/R 'in' jacks on back of unit. YOUR DONE!Talk about INSTANT gratification, this is it!In addition to our T.V. we now have this really great sounding soundbar. You can use one, or the other, or both at the same time. This is just right for installing on your wall under your flat screen T.V.,38" long & sticks out from the wall 5 3/4".Or if you have enough R.C.A. or optical cable, this would be great across the room, for a room full of awesome sound. There's also line out and aux in on the back for additional uses, head phones, speaker etc.Optical cable can also be used instead of R.C.A., but we didn't have any extras on hand, and though they say optical delivers better, we've never been able to tell any difference. This unit is quite large, 38" long,Height 4 7/8", plus feet 1/2" high = 5 3/8 total. The feet are all rubber 1 1/2" diameter, with an extra soft pad for staying put & protecting furniture.Deep - 5", plus five 3/4" wall bumpers, two of which are built in wall hangers at 16" center. You can use the buttons on the front of the unit, or the remote. They are on/off, - SOURCE = aux/r.c.a./opitcal, - MODE = movie/normal/music, - VOLUME = up/down/mute.Listing to music we couldn't hear any difference between the modes, but listing to T.V. shows and movies we could. The remote uses a battery similar to a watch battery, and is already in the remote. There's a plastic tab to pull out the end of the remote and it's ready to go.Some inconveniences are:No cable is included for hooking to the T.V., (R.C.A. nor optical). There isn't any volume bar shown on the units face that shows when your at peak volume. You just have to hold the button down for a while till you think that's all there is.We now have ANOTHER remote control.Maybe some remotes can be programed to this bar, but ours dosen't have that capability. The infrared signal requires an open veiw to it, it's not a point anywhere. We think the buttons of the remote work just fine, and are of a nice size to use.The remote it'self is the lenght of a charge card, but not quite as wide. That's not to bad, but it's also only 3/16th" thick. That is of some concern, it seems it may break into easily.Even with these small inconveniences we still feel this AudioSource soundbar is worth five stars. With it's sleek and elegant appearance, it looks nice anywhere. The unit seems well made, it's net weight is 17 lb. and has a two year warranty on parts & labor. The signal-to-noise-ratio (S/N) is the ratio of sound to background noise. The larger the ratio, the more that the desirable sounds, such as music/voice/effects are separated from acoustical effects and background noise.Amplifier specification's have the S/N ratio expressed in decibals. An S/N ratio of 70db is much more desirable then a S/N ratio of 50db.This soundbar is rated at S/N:>80db, with a fairly low distortion level of 1%.What that means is, this soundbar delivers an impressive, full balanced, rich sound. In a word it's just plain awesome!Update Jan 4, 2012.This is just what we needed to enhance the empty, 'tin-like' sound of our T.V.The bar enhances music to a rich, full bodied sound, and supplies plenty of volume.Just for the record, we bought an optical cableto see if we could tell any difference between it and R.C.A. cables.Sorry to say that when we switched cables, absolutley nothing happened. It was as if the soundbar wasn't hooked up.We're still happy with how the R.C.A. cables deliver, but it needed said that the soundbar won't work with optical cables.Update Jan 18, 2012, Please see comment of first post.SRM Audio has provided information for set up using optical cables.Update Jan 18, 2013, The soundbar is still working perfectly ~and we're still very pleased with it.

3Decent but don't expect too much
By davsav30
This is a decent soundbar for the price. Nice addition for basic TV speakers. Excellent highs and mids. Bass is ok, but don't expect much depth from the built in subwoofers. Appearance does not look as sleek as other units, but it is fine for my needs. If you wall mount the unit, the feet are not designed to come off, so it does not look right hanging on the wall with the feet exposed. You can take the feet off, by ripping off the covers to the feet and removing the screws. The remote is a joke, so plan to buy a universal remote if you are buying this product. I have a Dish Network 20.0IR remote, that I was able to program to use with my unit. If you are using the optical connection, you must turn off Dolby Surround from your input source. Optical only will work with 2 channel PCM input. Overall, this is a great unit for low end soundbars under 250.00. Just remember this is a soundbar and not a surround sound system.

5Great Sound for a Great Price
By Andy
I unpacked my Soundbar and had it set up in about two minutes. Just plugged it into the outlet and attached the cable from my TV. Wow - great sound. It's a lot like HTIB but cheaper and a lot simpler. When I play my favorite movies with loud explosions, the room rocks. Even my wife, who is not big on electronics, plugs in her cell phone and plays C&W music when she is getting ready for work in the morning. I think it's a great deal. I have friends who have spent a whole lot more on similar products who are blown away when I tell them what I paid.

5Wonderful system!
By Brian Rutzen
I ordered this system after having 3 Sony systems over the previous 5+ years. I was looking primarily for a wireless speaker system and finding a Samsung with the Smart Hub was an added bonus. This works well and compliments my Samsung TV very well. The Anynet+ system allows me to have a backup remote to my Logitech all-in-one since it controls both the HT system and TV with one. The sound is rich and crisp and even has an equalizer that can be customized in the settings. With 2 HDMI inputs, an optical audio in with a dedicated input, and a single HDMI out, this is the perfect system - and the price can't be beat! Hooking the system up in a breeze, just be sure to plug in the wireless speakers BEFORE turning on the system for the first time. Failure to do so can cause problems with setting it up, but nothing that a restart or 2 can't fix. Some wonderful extra features that aren't mentioned in the product listing:+ Custom equalizer+ Built in Wi-Fi+ ms sound delay settings (if sound doesn't match TV)Overall, I would strongly recommend this system to anyone looking for a great priced wireless speaker surround sound system.

3Somewhat disappointed but can't beat the value
By Johnnie B
I am a current owner of the HT-C6900W and completely satisfied with the system. My review of the 6900W is available here on Amazon and everything I stated there still remains the same. Never had an issue with performance or reliability for over two years of use. It just sounds great (for an HTIB) and works without a hiccup.I recently relocated to a second home and purchased the E5500W for it. The price of the E5500W is cheaper than that the C6900W (even at the end of model year fire sale price) was but I still had high expectations as I was attributing the price decrease to newer and cheaper technologies. While the performance is similar, there are a few "compromises" that diminishes the quality of the E5500W compared to the C6900W:- No autocalibration. This isn't a big deal as you can still dial in the distance and dB offset of each speaker.- No onboard 1gb internal memory for BD Live. Don't really care about that.- Still no Amazon Instant! Come on Samsung, I'm a Prime member!- The remote is skinny with smaller buttons and not backlit.- Front left, right speakers are single woofer while the C6900W are double (the E6500W looks to be equipped with double). Center, rears and sub looks to be the same.- Sound quality is very good but speech and low bass seem just ever so slightly muffled compare to the C6900W.- Some static noise comes from rear speakers. It is infrequent, maybe a few seconds for about every hour of use but this never happened on the C6900W. I don't think it's the speakers themselves but the wireless rear connection. I'm not factoring in this in the comparison as I will exchange if the problem continues or worsens. It could also be an issue with the cable feed.Of course being two years newer, there are some feature upgrades:- Smart Hub layout is better organized.- Equipped with a web browser that works in a pinch. Too clumsy for everyday use but nice new addition.- No more typing in search fields by pressing number buttons like sending a text message on old cell phones. A letter selection box comes up so you can use the directional keys. This is much more convenient.- Remote, though a bit cramped as stated above, now has direct buttons for Nexflix and Pandora. This is great for me as I use those two online features the most.- 2D to 3D conversion right on the remote.More importantly, there are also some performance enhancements compared to the C6900W:- The 3D sound feature. It does add to the immersive effect by pumping more volume to the rear satellite speakers. This is right on the remote and can be set to High, Med, Low and Off and you will use all four settings depending on the content you're watching.- Equalizer now available to customize the sound setting. This is a very welcomed addition. You have much more control in tailoring the sound to your taste.- Disc load times improved. Still not the best around but notably better than the C6900W.- Picture quality for blu-ray and dvd upconverted still on par with the best blu-ray players.Bottom line: The system still sounds very good, better than that of Sony, Panny and LG's equavlents. It should be equal to that of last year's D5500 rated by Consumer Reports as the best BluRay HTIB by far even though it lacked wireless rears and NO HDMI inputs. It was the only HTIB to be rated "Very Good" on sound quality while others were just good or worse. Still, it just doesn't have quite the same punch and clarity as the C6900W. Perhaps that's the difference between the 5xxx and 6xxx series. Given the price, I will keep this system as this year's price difference between the two is over $200! Subjectively speaking, I would exchange for the E6500W if the price difference was $50 or less. The E6500W has these new vacuum tubes that supposedly makes it sound better (advertised as professional grade surround) but could also be a gimmick. I listened to it at the store and I recall thinking that it doesn't sound that different from the C6900W.Yes, I am somewhat disappointed as my title says because I expected the same, if not better sound performance as my two year old system. It's a notch below. What I am experiencing is effect of stepping down a series even though 2 years apart. Don't let my disappointment fool you. This is still a very good system for the price.UPDATE 11/26/12As noted in the comments section, our wireless rear issue was due to the cable signal and has been fixed by the cable company. A friend who purchased this system on black Friday deal had similar issue but could not fix. Both the system's wireless rear and his wireless Uverse digital box would constantly lose signal (main wired Uverse box ok). Unlike my system that had static or no signal to the wireless rears on cable programs only, his wireless rears failed freqently with DVD's and BluRays also. Brought his system to my house check out the problem but it worked without issue. Took it back to his place thinking maybe just disconnecting and reconnecting the system resolved the issue but the problem occurred all over again. Couldn't figure this one out. I decided to use my smart phone to see if I can get some help online. Of course, using wifi is much faster so I tried to connect to his router. There were a billion wifi signals in his apartment complex. Yup. That must be it. I'm not an expert when it comes to wireless signals but most routers operate on 2.4 GHz like the wireless amp that is used for the HT-E5500W. I know that there's multiple channels and multiple devices can operate without issue on the same frequency and whatnot but when there's 30 medium to strong signals and countless weaker signals picked up by a 2 year old smart phone, it's just too much. I believe that is also the issue for his wireless remote digital cable box.So, for those that live in higher density housing complexes like large apartments or condos, I do not recommend this unit if you are going to use the wireless rear. And there are cheaper alternatives to this system if you can wire up all your speakers. I do not know at what point the system will be interfered with but my phone shows 3 strong, 2 medium and 6-7 weak wifi signals at a given time at my house and our system works without problems.

4Good System
By Dazzle
System is easily set up and has good connectivity options, hooked up to satellite reciever and xbox as well as TV. Connected to wireless network easily. Sound quality is better than average, but not spectacular. The wireless rear speakers make installation a breeze, but are somewhat weak in sound delivery. Disappointed that there is not a multiple disk changer, and the single drive is slow loading. Disk drive makes loud clunk and whirl noises when the system is turned on and when loading disks. No complaint on visual output, crisp and clear.
